Summary
The Lead, Product & Corporate Communications will play a key role in helping to establish the corporate reputation of Bioverativ, a spin-off of Biogen’s hemophilia business that will be focused on hemophilia and other rare blood disorders.
Responsibilities
* The position will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to support the company’s marketed products and pipeline programs, and helping to build a strong brand for the new company. * This individual will collaborate closely with our Medical, Commercial, Patient Advocacy and R&D teams to deliver compelling communications to key external stakeholders and employees. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive communications for a new, growing company while working with a team that values initiative, accountability, flexibility and teamwork. * This role will report to the Executive Director, Communications & Public Affairs, and the role will be based in Waltham, Mass. * Principal Responsibilities * Develop and implement communication strategies for marketed products and pipeline programs for external stakeholders * Work with the Executive Director, Communications & Public Affairs, to develop and execute a strategic plan to build the corporate reputation of Bioverativ * Lead development of communications materials including press releases, messages, Q&As, working with our collaborators, as needed * Act as a media spokesperson; work to increase understanding of Bioverativ, its products and pipeline programs * Establish and maintain relationships with key journalists across all media, including digital and social channels * Develop and execute social media plan to build visibility and support the company’s brand * Ensure pull-through of external communications to employees to ensure they understand how their roles contribute to our mission of creating progress for patients where they need it most * Measure success of public relations initiatives through metrics and analytics * Manage external consultants and coordinate communication plans and tactics with partners, as needed
Ideal Candidate
* 10+ years of experience in product/corporate communications on the agency or company side with strong pharmaceutical/biotech experience * Experience in product communications, issues and crisis management, science and data communications, and traditional and social media * Experience working with national and local business, trade and social media * Understanding of and experience in a global healthcare environment, including an understanding of regulatory functions * Experience leading social media programs * Outstanding written and verbal communications skills * Ability to work cross-functionally and interact with senior internal and external stakeholders * Experience managing external consultants * Strong initiative, sense of urgency, creative thinker and team player **Education** * Bachelors Degree preferred
