Summary
This is a fulltime exempt level position reporting to the Director, Quality Informatics for Quality Performance Solutions at Altegra Health. The position can be based remotely, or near an Altegra Health office location. The QPS Programmer Analyst designs database software to aid in the analysis and interpretation of complex quality improvement data. Works closely with other QPS developers and analysts to integrate work, and with client services staff to meet client needs and provide feedback.
Responsibilities
* Prepares software for data analysis using programming in Microsoft SQL Server . The programming approaches designed must be capable for application in large database environments (tables exceeding 10 million rows). The solutions will involve creating stored procedures, functions, dynamic SQL, and metadata table to control software flow. * Adapts analysis software, queries, and concepts for integrated use within existing Altegra software products. The position is expected to be able to research existing code and interpret existing database designs while considering new solutions. * Turn new business requirements into meaningful queries, reports, and analysis. * Perform data validation and apply business experience to ensure accuracy of analytic concepts. The position is expected to monitor mathematical results of software closely and ensure expected results. * Meets with internal management and client contacts to assess projects at all life cycle phases * Provide solid documentation of all key deliverables and due dates. Responsible for organizing assigned work, managing the work to completion, and managing relationships required to accomplish the work. Manage the day-to-day details of the project including the plan, schedule, resources, scope, budget and risks. * Participate in planning sessions with business to implement process improvement within an assigned area. Provide support, resolve problems, identify key deliverables and escalate to management as appropriate. Track progress and monitor all creative, business and technical development activities to ascertain technique for optimization. * Accountable for the documentation of findings for senior executives and other key clients to facilitate sharing of software outcomes. Makes presentations to various senior level audiences. * Adheres to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Altegra Health policies and procedures. * Other duties may be assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or Business Administration, or Health Care preferred. * Established knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of database programming. * Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in database programming, focused on analytic or statistical analysis. * Minimum of 3 years HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set), or other health insurance quality measurement methodology. * Experience in healthcare business. * Experience working with statistical concepts and terminology required. * Proficiency in SQL database programming in a current SQL Server environment. * Experience with Health Plan databases: Enrollment, Benefits, Provider, Medical Claims, Pharmacy Claims, etc. * Knowledge and ability to analyze business requirements, learn and consider existing architectures, and to program integrated solutions. * Ability to design and execute software testing and quality assurance plans. * Strong computer skills including MS Office (e.g., Excel and Word) * Ability to evaluate integrity of data sources, and make recommendations for improvement. * Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment * Ability to interact with management personnel * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Dependable, great attitude, highly motivated and a team player * Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Proven ability to prioritize * Ability to multi-task and act effectively under pressure with initiative, tact, and poise * Adaptive and flexible to new ideas and change * Participate in special projects as needed
