Summary
The Unit Manager will manage the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of financial and management reporting and will have the responsibility to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidance. The primary focus will be to oversee and manage the preparation and coordination of the investment related portions of the SEC quarterly and annual reports, including financial statements, footnotes, Management’s Discussions and Analysis and earnings releases and ensuring compliance with internal controls and relevant accounting guidance and regulations.
Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise the GAAP reporting team in its month and quarter-end close responsibilities, including investment reporting, account analysis, and staff training/development. * Review and analyze various reports - both established and ad hoc - for internal and external customers. This includes, for example, review of the balance sheet, income statement, cash flows and investment position reports for the Corporation and its subsidiaries, as well as reports used by senior leaders for measurement and planning. * Assist the Senior Manager with the review of the investment information in the MD&A and Footnotes to the Corporation's 10-K, 10-Q and Investor Supplement. * Help coordinate and lead aspects of team projects, assignments and team responsibilities (including cross-functional teams) such as continual process improvement, strengthening of controls, peer analysis and team education sessions. * Assist with periodic research into new accounting pronouncements and the impact that new products or strategies might have on our current financial statements.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. * Ability to multi-task, prioritize workloads/demands and work across various departments * Shows initiative, self-motivated, professional demeanor, and desire to learn. **Experience Required:** * 6-8 years of professional accounting or reporting experience, preferably with an investments and/or SEC reporting focus. * Supervisory experience in coordinating team processes is required; experience leading process improvements a plus. **Computer Proficiency:** * Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook, Word, SAP or other general ledger applications and database querying tools **Education:** * Accounting/Finance Degree Required * CPA/CPA candidate preferred * CFA/MBA a plus
