Summary
To ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of assigned general ledger account activity which may involve the determination, preparation, posting and analysis of journal entries, trial balances and flux reviews. To assist management by interpreting and executing department policy and procedures designed to comply with GAAP, SOX, and Franchise agreements. Assist and support non-exempt staff and contribute as Subject Matter Experts to various projects as needed.
Responsibilities
* Based on exception review analysis, determine the need, prepare, support, and post sub-system entries and/or general ledger entries to ensure that account activities are accurate, complete, timely and in compliance with GAAP, SOX, agreements, and department procedures. * Heavily involved in month end close processes to ensure all research, review, and explanations are properly performed. * Responsible for trial balance preparation which involves research, identification of contributing balance figures, and resolution of errors and/or issues. * Responsible for balance sheet and income statement flux analysis which involves identification of month over month or year over year contributing data movements with supporting documentation and a thorough understanding of the impacting transactions from detail to summary levels of presentation. Have a strong analytical understanding of the key sub-systems in the department so as to provide analysis as is necessary for job or for special requests. * Involvement in monthly, quarterly, and annual audit requirements. * Define, create, prepare, and analyze various monthly reports used to aid management in decision making. * Provide support to groups outside the department to answer inquiries and contribute to issue resolution. * Work with departmental management to identify and implement strategies for process improvements to drive efficiencies. * Contribute as a subject matter expert as requested. * Provide non-exempt training and oversight as is necessary for accounting sub-systems or general ledger impact as is necessary. * Assist and support non-exempt staff to resolve questions and issues encountered which are above the typical level of non-exempt understanding. * Provide an interpretation of the situation, implement solution or suggest solution to management as is appropriate to level of approval. * Approve and review entries to the sub-system and/or the general ledger prepared by non-exempt staff which are within the approval level.
Ideal Candidate
* Education: Bachelors/4 Yr Degree * Experience: 2, Accounting principles, Finance, related work experience. * Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. * Working knowledge of Access and Powerpoint. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills with an strong math aptitude. * Independent problem solving and highly developed task management skills to work in a fast paced, dynamic deadline driven environment. * Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present data and interpretations in a clear, concise manner. * Good organizational skills including the ability to adapt and be flexible. * Internal Posting Ends: 2/25/2016.
