Summary
The Marketing Coordinator is accountable for promoting YWCA York to the general public and target audiences; planning and executing of media communications and providing support for the planning and execution of signature events; and functioning as the liaison between staff and freelance graphic/web designers. S/he will develop and execute short- and long-term internal and external strategies that support the organization’s vision and culture. Position reports to the Community Development Officer. Schedule: Up to 25 hours per week; four-day schedule (9:00 AM to 3:30 PM) with flexible hours during peak marketing and signature event periods.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and coordinate media/public relations/graphic design needs of YWCA York; work with program directors to develop advertising/marketing ideas to be executed by freelance designers. * Identify stories to promote the YWCA and its programs and events; write and post content to social media sites: manage the timely production and posting of updated web content. * Coordinate photo shoots for signature events and maintain the YWCA’s photo and design archive. * Develop and maintain press lists and press archives; draft and distribute press releases and assemble press packets. * Plan and coordinate the logistics of signature fundraising events (Race Against Racism and Walk A Mile In Her Shoes) to support YWCA philanthropic efforts. * Update event timelines and budgets on an annual basis. * Schedule and coordinate signature event committee activities; coordinate planning with event contractors. * Work closely with staff volunteer coordinator to support events. * Attend business community events and meetings to expand contact base and develop ideas to improve YWCA events.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Experience in marketing or communications. * Prior event planning experience a plus. * Knowledge of database software; spreadsheet software and word processing software; social media platforms. * Knowledge of marketing principles and practices. * Possesses a professional, polished demeanor. * Event planning experience. * Strong writing skills. * Excellent organizational skills; is detail oriented * Ability to work independently and as a team. * Ability to adapt to a fast-paced working environment with multiple deadlines. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism. * Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving skills. * Knowledge of social service system and community needs preferred. * Proven ability to maintain strict deadlines and significant attention to detail. * Dedication to the delivery of consistent, thoughtful, and creative communications from YWCA York. **Competencies:** * Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.
