Summary
The Cost Estimating Lead prepares both customer and internal quotations for new business, design changes and a variety of cost or business case studies. Analyzes cost, prepares reports and action plans, which will be utilized in support of cost management activities to reduce cost and improve profitability. This position is a leader in the estimating department and will also help with development and training of individuals in the department.
Responsibilities
**Key Position Results:** * Prepare and complete quotations and cost studies in a timely manner, while ensuring data accuracy and cost comparisons. * Timely completion of project/product cost estimates. * Facilitates and coordinates data collection from all relevant departments. * Customer retention and customer satisfaction are critical requirements for this position. **Key Duties & Responsibilities:** * Prepares cost estimates (material, labor and capital investment), profit and pricing targets for all new business opportunities and cost studies, as required. Conduct precise data- analysis to complete quotations and cost studies to determine both accuracy and cost competitiveness. * Drive cost estimates to conclusion (project manage) with daily interaction with engineering, drafting, operations, sales, purchasing and logistical teams. * Draft quotations for RFQ bids. * Participate in Launch Team, Project Management Office review, New Business and cost/profit improvements meetings. * Facilitate the final product drawings and effectively communicate the findings to the Engineering Department, as well as customers. * Recommend alternative functionality or cost savings opportunities to the team or customer. * Leader in department for questions, development, process creation and maintenance and support. * Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or other relevant field. * Manufacturing experience preferred. * Experience reading CAD and structural drawings a plus. * Manufacturing process knowledge preferred. * Knowledge of Microsift Excel. * Strong organizationsl skills. * Multi-tasking and ability to work well under pressure, based upon the urgency of a project. * Strong communication skills. (Verbal and written).
