Summary
Wellington Insurance Group is growing and looking to add a General Adjuster to handle complex, personal lines property claims. This position completes coverage investigations and coverage analysis, and thoroughly develops damage issues and detailed resolution plans. The General Adjuster will handle claims in accordance within prescribed authority and best claims practices.
Responsibilities
* Adjusts major and complex losses in their entirety, which includes high dollar claims, but may also adjust standard losses as departmental workload requires. * Identifies, analyzes, and resolves coverage issues according to established Company protocol, including thorough policy review and the analysis of its application to the individual claim. * Develops and directs investigative plans. May conduct scene investigations (e.g., photos, diagrams, blueprints, maps), statements, official reports (e.g., police, fire, weather, hail, liability, and medical pay), and ownership documents (e.g., tax liens, judgments, encumbrances). Identifies alleged and actual damages, identifies potential liable parties, recognizes and addresses potential fraud. * Conducts thorough damage development, leading to timely and adequate evaluations, including appraisals/estimates, business records, invoices, detailed inventory, purchase records, receipts, credit card statements, and ALE documents. Develops appropriate methods of repair/replacement, verifies ownership, and applies any special limitations. * Negotiates with policyholders to settle claims. * Performs technical reviews of appraiser and contractor property damage estimates. * Effectively and efficiently manages independent adjusters, experts, and vendors. Assures that assignments outline specific tasks, that fees and time frames are agreed upon at time of assignment, and that Invoices are checked to confirm that charges are limited to the assigned tasks and are specific to instructions. * Ability to train and mentor entry-level examiner employees. * Assures thorough and timely claims reporting. * Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned as necessary.
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum 7 years related, applicable experience, with progressive experience processing claims of a complex nature. * Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Texas Property/Casualty Adjuster license. * Completion of or actively pursuing a major insurance designation. * Fluency in Spanish preferred. * Strong communication and customer interaction skills.
