About WeAreMammoth

Our veteran team works with companies big and small to build digital products that help people learn, thrive, and produce.

Summary
  • You should have at least 2 years of experience writing clean, semantic, standards-compliant HTML and CSS. Additionally, you should have experience working with a JavaScript library like jQuery to manipulate the document, handle events, or create small animations. The code that you write should be modular, efficient, and easy to understand by other developers. The ideal candidate is ready and willing to learn and grow with us.

  • We expect you to be good at the technical stuff but the most critical skill to be a great fit is communication. Since most of our team is remote, we communicate through HipChat, Basecamp, and video chats throughout the day. You must be able to express your ideas and needs clearly. Everyone on our team also speaks directly with our clients on a daily basis- mostly in writing. You must be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical people thoughtfully.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with a senior front-end developer to divide tasks, review code, and learn from one another.

  • Modify the markup and styles of an existing project to fit a new feature required by a client.

  • Work with Photoshop or Sketch files from our designer to build new layouts.

  • Implement a new piece of interactivity using jQuery.

  • Check in your code to a versioning system like Subversion or Git.

  • Coordinate with the lead back-end developer to determine the current status of a project.

  • Test a website in various browsers and mobile devices. Then make style adjustments for cross-browser compatibility.

  • Investigate and resolve 15-20 reported bugs ranging from small text edits to image updates to JavaScript errors to display inconsistencies.

  • Communicate directly with a client in Basecamp to answer a question or give a status update.

  • Build an HTML email template for use in Campaign Monitor.

  • Work with a Technical Project Manager to create a time estimate for a new feature of an existing project or for a totally new project.

  • Listen in (or lead, if you are so inclined) a Friday afternoon code meetup with the development team to go over a code refactoring, a new technology, or any other coding topic of interest.

Ideal Candidate

Required skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think for yourself.

  • Dedication to testing your work.

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • You are comfortable building templates that will be integrated with server-side code.

The following skills, while not required, would be valuable:

  • Experience (or interest in learning) dynamic CSS preprocessors such as SASS and LESS

  • Experience working with the Bootstrap framework.

  • Familiarity working in an integrated development environment (IDE) like Visual Studio

  • Familiarity with WordPress sites

  • Experience using Litmus to verify that your email looks as good as possible in different email clients.
