Summary
Virool is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial, industry expert to lead a growing Publisher Development team across sales, account management and integration functions. The Head of Publisher Development will be responsible for building the strategy for aggressive growth of our supply-side marketplace via direct publisher relationships, and architecting the vision for key product development opportunities for our SSP product. You will be expected to have extensive contacts in the premium publisher space to grow Virool’s publisher offering, centered around outstream video.
Responsibilities
* Drive adoption of Virool's video platform and SSP solution among premium publishers by establishing relationships with decision-makers at tier-one publishers * Build the strategic vision for publisher acquisition by vertical, platform and region * Negotiate large-scale media relationships at C-level with premium publishers, networks and exchanges * Own and adapt Virool’s publisher value proposition and drive publisher-focused product builds/features to support the storyline * Forecast quarterly and annual new publisher adoptions and subsequent supply growth for Virool and third party demand delivery * Report key financial and operational metrics for the Publisher Development team to the executive team * Work closely with agency and brand sales teams in the US, UK, Canada and LATAM to develop supply partnerships based on demand needs * Evaluate technology and platform partnership opportunities with SSPs, DSPs and ad-tech providers * Manage a growing Publisher Development team across sales, account management and integration functions and develop/measure weekly metrics to align with company goals * Recruit, train and nurture new members of the publisher development team * Proactively work with Engineering and Product teams to discuss product opportunities that put Virool publishers in a position to win * Create and deliver the sales strategy for publisher platform products and work closely with Marketing to drive SSP marketing collateral needs, ensuring product messaging in the marketplace is effective and relevant * Influence and identify marketing events needs to achieve industry awareness within the key publisher audience target, and participate in speaking events as an industry expert
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years of experience in digital media, ad tech or publishing, preferably working at a publisher or industry-leading SSP * Expert-level understanding of the publisher landscape, including programmatic and digital video advertising * Proven track record managing a pipeline of premium publishers (Salesforce) and closing complex deals with long sales cycles * Passion for product development, with the ability to sit amongst engineers and evangelize product vision to justify resources towards SSP needs * Relentless approach to problem-solving, with an unyielding desire to push past product roadblocks -- even when it’s out of your direct control * Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to compete for #1 in the industry despite startup-level resources * Exceptional people management and coaching skills, with the ability to unite a team towards a common goal * Ability to derive deep business insights through analysis of publisher performance data and trends and relay to the executive team * Thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment, improvising where perfect solutions don’t exist, and have a thirst for constant education
