Summary
The National Accounts Manager (NAM) leads the company’s efforts to maintain and expand relationships with large, multi-location/ multi-state customers. The National Accounts Manager is responsible for achieving sales quota and assigned strategic account objectives. The National Accounts Manager represents the entire range of company products and services to assigned customers, while leading the customer account planning cycle and ensuring assigned customers’ needs and expectations are met by the company. The National Accounts Manager focuses on the headquarters and key buying locations of assigned accounts, while coordinating closely with field associates assigned to these customers’ other locations.
Responsibilities
The National Accounts Manager reports to the Chief Revenue Officer. However, the NAM will also have key cross-functional coordination responsibility, and will work closely with Product Management, Underwriting and Claims to ensure consistency and quality in all aspects of the company’s service delivery. * Appointing, training, developing, and monitoring clients to ensure the company’s relationships are strong and growing, and the partners work with UPC to achieve both company and agency revenue and profitability goals; * Analyzing market conditions and trends to identify opportunities for growth or realignment of the company’s business; * Working with other company departments, especially Product Management, Underwriting, and Claims, to ensure the products and pricing of UPC products are both competitive and tailored to meet the needs of clients and policyholders while producing acceptable profit for UPC. * Develop and implement a yearly strategic plan for the assigned clients that is based on UPC’s needs, our expertise and capabilities. This business strategy should provide for policy growth and profitability with a clear road map to their achievement * Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts. * Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations. * Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts. * Manage commission, performance bonus, and preferred agency programs such as growth bonus incentives to maximize profitable growth. * Strengthen the distribution system through client prospecting and appointment activities; activate new appointments and revitalize existing agencies consistent with UPC strategy. * Conduct competitive analysis/market research of the territory to identify opportunities or threats and make recommendations that may impact the position of the company within the territory. This should include commission and rate reviews, competitive intelligence, and geographic trends. * Identify training/product education needs in agencies, coordinate and/or conduct training sessions as appropriate. * Ensure compliance with all company practices. * Manage expenses in accordance with territory budget. * Other duties or projects not defined in this position description as directed by the Senior Leadership.
Ideal Candidate
**Environmental Demands:** Extensive road and some air travel including overnight stays in hotels. **Physical Requirements:** Professional appearance, good hearing and speaking skills are required since face-to-face and telephone contact with the company’s customers is frequent and extensive. Also, driving capabilities are necessary due to extensive road travel. **Mental Requirements:** Skills necessary for the effective performance of this position’s job functions include proven analytical, problem solving and decision making skills, strong leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal, written and communication skills, strategic thinking skills, demonstrated time management skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team. **Equipment Used:** Computers, calculators, telephones, automobile **Qualifications:** College degree or demonstrated experience, extensive knowledge of agency management and/or agency experience, 5-10 years marketing experience, technical knowledge of insurance industry and the specific state’s insurance market, action-oriented, proficient in the use of IT tools. **Certificates/Licensure:** Completion of either CPCU or CIC designation preferred; agent’s license helpful but not required. **Location:** The position will be located at the company’s headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the NAM will work in that office when not on the road visiting agents.
