Summary
Hostway is seeking an entrepreneurial Product Manager to join its product management team to develop and lead its portfolio of Managed Hosting offerings. As the Product Manager for Managed Hosting you will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, planning and driving the execution for Hostway’s Managed Hosting offerings which includes components such as dedicated servers, storage, networking, security, operating systems, and virtualization. We are looking for someone who can wear multiple hats and excels at working in a fast paced environment. The candidate must also be passionate about customers and get excited about their successes. We are looking for someone who has “been there, and done that” and has consistently delivered world-class experiences for customers in the hosting or software industry. The ideal candidate will be held accountable for the success of their portfolio throughout its entire lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Develop & maintain Hostway’s Managed Hosting product portfolio while being responsible for its vision, development, growth, roadmap, perception in the market, and execution. * Conduct competitive analysis, market research, and follow industry shifts and trends to maintain Hostway as a leader in its Managed Hosting offerings. * Develop clear and precise product opportunity assessments and product requirement documents that can easily be translated into execution plans by all impacted functional organizations. * Define and execute the Managed Hosting portfolio roadmap including dedicated hardware, networking equipment, procurement strategies, monitoring, backup, operating systems, and virtualization technologies. * Work closely with customers to ensure customer satisfaction, gather product feedback, and prioritize improvement activities based on feedback. * Track and report on all key performance metrics associated with your product portfolio to ensure you’re meeting your revenue, customer acquisition, and product adoption goals. * Work closely with service delivery to ensure the service is operating as expected and customers are receiving the intended user experiences. * Lead pricing efforts for hardware components, working with the finance team to build pricing and discount models for both standard and custom deals. * Work with Hostway’s sourcing and inventory departments to lower cost and reduce CapEx spend. * Work closely with vendors to understand new hardware, software, and cloud technologies and pro-actively plan to implement and add to Hostway’s product portfolio. * Successfully retire old platforms, hardware, and software, providing upgrade paths for existing customers. * Develop and own the strategy for managed backup and monitoring solutions. * Own the tooling for ordering, quoting, and proposals for both internal sales and external customers.
Ideal Candidate
* A minimum of 5-7 years of product management experience in a hosting, cloud, Software as a Service, or software development environment with a proven track record of success in bringing products to market. * Proven experience developing a consistent set of managed services regardless of the delivery platform (dedicated servers, virtual machines, on-premises, off-premises, public cloud such as MSFT Azure, etc.) * Deep understanding of the Infrastructure-as-a-Service market, dedicated server and storage markets, and emerging cloud and virtualization trends. * Bachelor’s degree (engineering, marketing, business, or related field.) * MBA preferred, or equivalent experience. * Technical and business knowledge of enterprise data centers and cloud infrastructure operations. * Experience with Agile development/Scrum methodologies. * Experience creating requirements documentation and managing product roadmaps. * Strong planning and project management skills. * Ability to understand and write technical documentation. * Experience working in a driven, fast paced, and dynamic environment. * Strong collaborative skills and the ability to speak openly with customers in the interest of getting direct feedback on our product suite.
