Data Warehouse Developer

As a Data Warehouse Developer with Optum Data Management, you will participate in the systems development life cycle for new development, enhancements and maintenance projects in a Data Warehouse/Data Analytics environment. As a member of the Delivery Management team, the candidate will work with project teams to design, develop and deploy ETL software needed to support a variety of business needs.

• Research, evaluate, identify alternative approaches, recommend, design and code efficient and effective solutions for challenging problems ranging from small to large work efforts for low to moderate complexity problems
• Comply with standards and guidelines related to the design, construction, testing and deployment activities within the Delivery Management environments
• Demonstrate collaborative skills working within a project team of diverse skills and will bring communication skills including oral, written and presentation skills, creativity, and problem solving skills to a challenging environment
• Support development, QA, and production support teams in SDLC and operational activities
• Identify opportunities in business processes, system capabilities and delivery methodologies for continuous improvement with an emphasis on DevOps
• Provide guidance and direction to less-seasoned staff

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical area of study; OR equivalent professional experience
• 7+ years Professional IT/Business related experience
• 4+ years SQL Server Database administration experience
• 4+ years of SQL development experience (developing procedures, functions, SQL queries, etc.)
• 4+ years of ETL development experience with SSIS highly preferred
• 4+ years of experience troubleshooting within a Data Warehouse environment
• Ability to work non-standard hours as necessary for deployment/load support
• Experience with multiple programming languages (PowerShell scripting, C#, others)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with continuous integration and delivery from a data warehouse and ETL perspective
• Experience working with a virtual team environment over multiple locations, including off-shore
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and technical aptitude, able to think critically and objectively about process improvement, with emphasis on process automation and streamlining
• Experience working with production operations teams
• Microsoft Technology Stack (SQL, SSIS, SSRS, PDW)
• Experience dealing with large warehouse queries (Performance optimization)
• An understanding of a variety of modeling and/or diagramming techniques, with the ability to create process flow diagrams and the ability read data flow and entity relationship models
• Healthcare industry knowledge
• Knowledge of data warehouse design and development
