Summary
We are searching for an Events Manager, who will provide leadership for all events for United Way donors, volunteers, advocates, employees and other constituents, to be part of our United Way team located in Hartford, CT. As the Events Manager you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all event planning activities from creative concept development to final execution. This position will ensure events align with/reflect our mission, vision, values and community priorities.
Responsibilities
* Leads organizational event planning efforts from creative concept development to final execution and onsite event management including, but not limited to, save-the-date and invitation text and design, invitee lists, vendor and sponsor management, creative direction, pricing, negotiations, maintaining budgets, script writing, assessing risk and providing full oversight for events. * Supports, recruits, and as appropriate, manages cross-functional staff and volunteer event teams to achieve goals of event. * Interacts with and supports diverse donors, volunteers, advocates, employees, and other constituents, including top management at area companies as necessary for events. * Develops, evaluates and fulfills event-related sponsorship commitments. * Creates and executes event marketing plans with assistance from Marketing Communications staff. * Manages and negotiates with event-related vendors from request for proposals (RFP) through fulfillment. * Recruits and trains volunteers for events. * Oversees tasks including but not limited to management of event marketing plans, sponsorship execution, RSVPs, production schedules. * Manages event debriefs, post-event communications, surveys, thank you communications, and lessons-learned activities. * Creates emails related to pre- and post-event marketing using online communication platforms. * Tracks year-to-year progress of events to determine growth and success of events. * Ensures accuracy and timeliness of event data within the organization’s database. * Ensures external constituent data is up-to-date and oversees data cleanup based on event attendance. * Develops new partnerships and opportunities in the community for development, engagement and growth related to event activities. * Assists at departmental and organizational meetings as required. * Attends community events, conferences and trainings as required.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent business related experience. * Minimum 3 to 5 years of related work experience preferred. * Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required. * Basic knowledge of web content management, social media and graphic design preferred. * Strong writing ability, including good grammar and spelling. * Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and organization skills.
Compensation and Working Conditions
Annual Pay $55,000 - $60,000
