Responsibilities
* Act as primary functional and operational finance lead for our largest business group, Intellectual Property and Licensing (IP&L), providing full P&L management and business support for the IP&L business. Bifurcated reporting – direct line to TiVo VP of Finance and dotted line to SVP, Worldwide Intellectual Property & Licensing (“EVP IP&L”) * Engage with IP&L team in strategic assessments regarding licensing opportunities around the world, identifying for the IP&L group opportunities for investment in growth, be it existing markets or new. Help ensure IP&L resources are deployed in a manner to optimize the group’s contribution. * Oversee efforts to identify customer reporting issues by analyzing market data against customer reporting * Build investment models for IP&L to support requests for additional funds for litigation, market expansion or patent acquisitions * Support VP, Patent Strategy, on reviewing patent acquisition and divesture deals. Provide deal support including financial modeling for acquisition opportunities * Provide SVP & GM of IP Licensing with deal support including deal modeling. Liaison with corporate revenue recognition team in this capacity * Partner closely with the EVP IP&L, the SVP & GM of IP Licensing, on all finance matters and requests * Oversee preparation of expense forecast, key scorecard metrics, and detailed dashboards on a monthly basis * Supervise the month-end close process, ensuring proper support from law firm contacts, reasonableness of accruals, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance * Review weekly revenue forecast reporting with the SVP & GM of IP Licensing, ensuring accuracy and visibility into all assumptions and week-over-week changes. Participate with the SVP & GM of IP Licensing in the IP&L interlock meetings with Sales. Ensure opportunities and risks are fairly portrayed * Manage the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting process for the IP&L teams, including full ownership of revenue and expense * Present detailed financial data to the Executive Leadership Team in the monthly IP&L operations review, including expense detail, full P&L view, risks and opportunities, and account-level variance explanations * Identify cost savings opportunities and recommend areas for improvement * Partner with IP&L leadership team in the annual company-wide strategic (three-year) planning process for IP&L * Act as liaison between business partners and the Accounting team as necessary, helping to ensure compliance with policies and procedures * Review and approve new hire requisitions and verify expenses are in compliance with budgeted amounts * Oversee IP&L reporting in terms of deadlines, quality and accuracy in to corporate functions * Assist, as needed, EVP IP&L with Board presentation materials
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum of 10 years of finance experience, including at least 5 years in the FP&A function and experience as a leader of business group finance * B.A. or B.S. in Business, Finance, or Accounting; MBA, CPA, or equivalent experience a plus * Solid understanding of US GAAP, including revenue recognition * M&A experience including business valuation, strategic analysis, due diligence and integration a plus * Strong analytical skills with an ability to collaborate functionally across all business units * Build a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Ability to execute while remaining diplomatic and collaborative * Ability to influence executives and build consensus across all levels of the organization * Track record of showing leadership in a fast-paced, dynamic environment * Comfortable working through conflict and is able to deliver negative feedback and messages * Exceptional communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders, including the highest levels of executive management * Demonstrated ability not only to see the big picture, but also to manage the details * Must have extreme attention to detail and a keen sense of urgency about work * Successful track record in leading complex projects from requirements phase through go-live * Hands-on ability with analytical tools & systems. Experience in Essbase, Oracle and Salesforce are a plus. Advanced user of Excel including pivot
