The perfect candidate will be thrilled to mentor their peers, and will use their experience and smarts to dive headfirst into accounting activities and process evolution.
Responsibilities
* Prepare journal entries, analyze accounts, prepare statements, and assist Sr. Accounting Manager in monthly closing and cost accounting reports * Take the lead on accurate and timely reporting during the month-end close process * Monitor and review accounting and related systems reports for accuracy and completeness * Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents * Develop and maintain accounting procedures that guarantee reporting and control consistent with corporate guidelines/GAAP * Perform detailed review, analysis, and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts and resolve any discrepancies * Aid with financial statement preparation * Complete variance analysis to prior periods and current year budget, tackle resolution of outstanding issues, etc. * Take the reigns of treasury functions, including cash management * Prepare and maintain proper accounting over fixed assets, capital and operating leases * Assist with special projects and audits as requested * Fulfill ad-hoc analysis requests from Finance and other internal teams
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years related accounting and/or reporting experience * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field * Rock solid understanding of both basic and complex accounting concepts (GAAP, revenue recognition, contingencies, balance sheet classifications, etc.) * Advanced knowledge of Excel * Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision * Ability to conduct analysis and interpret complex financial and statistical data * Top-notch organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills * Fantastic oral and written communication skills * Impeccable time management skills; talent for prioritizing and multitasking * Flair for building strong relationships with business partners * Personality that thrives in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment * Solid workpaper documentation techniques **Nice to Haves** * CPA or CPA candidate, strongly preferred * MBA is a plus * Public accounting experience * Experience in a startup environment and/or online retailer/e-commerce * Oracle software experience
