Summary

TIAA is currently seeking a Lead Development Manager within the SRK Technology group to provide key leadership with the planning, coordinating, and supervision of resources and processes related to the design, development, and implementation of organizational information systems and software applications. The role is also responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications. This individual leverages knowledge of best practices to define the vision, definition and strategy for development teams by driving project initiatives that deliver business solutions.

Responsibilities

General Management

  • Recruit, build and manage application development team to ensure the ability to deliver quality application components that meet business needs
  • Identify technical resource gaps and address the gaps by either acquiring or preferably by developing the skill set within the institution.
  • Develop and drive compliance of standard corporate and department policies, processes and procedures including cost tracking, status reporting and knowledge transfer.
  • Manage vendor relationships that support ability to deliver application components that enhance application delivery.
  • Collaborate with technology and business partners to seek opportunities to provide end to end application solutions, increase internal business partner satisfaction and ensure key deliverables are met.
  • Schedule and direct activities to support the successful promotion of new applications from development to production in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Lead process improvements, cost reduction efforts, tool development to improve the software development and support process in a way that reduces complexity, improves service, and reduces cost.

People Management

  • Direct and supervise problem solving and troubleshooting of software, data and interface issues; drive issues to resolution; supervise staff work products. Support process in a way that reduces complexity, improves service, and reduces cost.
  • Direct, motivate and develop staff through coaching and mentoring so as to maximize their individual contributions, professional growth and ability to function effectively as a team
  • May be accountable for managing human capital management functions which may include: recruitment, development, mobility, performance objective setting, performance evaluations, promotions and terminations

Strategic Alignment

  • Ensure that performance objectives established for each employee align with IT and firm strategies and priorities and individual development objectives
  • Ensure projects/programs and organization align with the business and IT strategieso Exemplify behaviors that support OneIT

Client Service/Relationship Management

  • Build trusted advisor relationship by partnering with clients and across IT to best achieve business and IT priorities and objectives

Cost Management

  • Contribute, negotiate, deliver and manage to assigned budget
  • Plan and utilize resources proactively and efficiently
  • Staffs projects with appropriately-skilled resources
Ideal Candidate

Required Skills:

  • 5+ Years of Financial Services domain experience specifically around Retirement Plan administration within technology
  • 3+ years of experience of leading or managing the team (Functional or Development)
  • 3+ years of experience with presentation responsibilities across a matrixed environment thorugh technology and business stakeholders
  • 2+ years of experience managing people directly

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Client Onboarding Experience within the financial services and/or non-profit domain
