Responsibilities
General Responsibility: - The Manager of Marketing is responsible for leading the planning, directing, executing, and the day-to-day oversight and implementation of the organization’s strategic marketing plans to ensure an accurate, consistent message in its marketing initiatives. - Has overall management responsibility for marketing materials that support membership development, annual scientific meeting, publications, special events, products, and services directed to members, customers, markets, and industries. - Manage and oversee market research initiatives that assist with the Society’s goals and objectives. Specific Duties: - Build strategic marketing plans and execute activities to advertise and market the organization’s products and services, including membership, annual scientific meeting, publications and subscriptions, campaigns, events, and other products and services. - Develops and manages high quality marketing programs such as advertising, direct marketing materials, e-mail marketing, and coordinating external conferences and exhibits that increase the Society’s visibility. - Analyzes marketing campaigns to ensure that they are effective and reaching the intended audience. - Makes recommendations and implements new strategy to achieving a high market penetration. - Develops and analyzes various surveys to ensure that the Society’s products and services are meeting the needs of its members and customers. Makes recommendations to senior management and staff on actions to be taken. - Plan and manage marketing budgets. - Ensures branding standards are maintained and properly executed. - Manage relationship with vendors such as designers, copy writers, editor’s printers, and list brokers. Assist in Society’s governance-related activities. Perform other duties as necessary.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree required; and/or relevant experience in marketing, advertising, or business. - Experience in developing marketing plans and strategies. - Excellent oral and written communication skills required. - Experience in managing program budgets required. - Demonstrated ability to build strong strategic relationships with outside organizations and stakeholders. - Experience with social media and on-line marketing (banner ads, web content, content/inbound marketing and Google AdWords). - Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat in a PC environment. Understanding of association management systems, HTML, and Adobe Creative Suite highly desirable. - Strong organizational and management skills demonstrated through the ability to balance attention to detail with big-picture perspective, juggle priorities to follow through on multiple projects, and identify resources in a dynamic environment. - Possess a motivated, energetic, talented, and team-oriented attitude. - Some travel required (domestic and/or international may be required). Physical Requirements: - Minimal lifting is required for this position; must be able to lift boxes of conference materials.
