Summary
This role will be joining a modernization team that is driving the future of Item and help build a DevOps foundation for these modernization efforts as well as set a standard of tools and patterns that all other product team across Item can leverage as those teams innovate. We are looking for a creative and motivated individual who can both lead and implement, is eager to learn, and wants to help build the culture, practice, and craft of DevOps and Agile at Target. The key to the success of this position is ability to work well with others regardless of their level or background, solid engineering expertise, collaboration, and a self-motivated working style.
Responsibilities
* A member of the Merchant Item team focused on helping teams develop better software focusing on Automation, Monitoring, Performance, Deployment, and Configuration Management. * You’ll be in the vanguard of Target’s DevOps transformation working with product teams across Target’s solution portfolio and infrastructure in our collaboration work space. (not just standups) * Participate in Agile Sprints in creating services to enable automated builds of predictable, high-quality infrastructure. * Build and continuously improve reference applications to make it easier for product teams to deliver reactive applications fast. * You’ll actively use Agile methods with the team to manage WIP, flow, and prioritization of work. * You’ll be hands on with the latest technologies to develop cloud native applications * You will engage with local and global teams to help mature our test-driven development practices and to leverage principles rooted in continuous integration and delivery. * You’ll be hands on with tools: Git/Github, Chef, Artifactory, HipChat, Jenkins, OpenStack, VMWare, and Open Source software to build automated testing and delivery pipelines * You will engage with local and global teams to help mature our test-driven development practices and to leverage principles rooted in continuous integration and delivery.
Ideal Candidate
**Preferred Experience** * Experience with Lean and/or DevOps practices * Experience with coding languages to drive system integration and automation * Experience with provisioning and automation platforms and languages such as Ansible and Chef * Familiarity with Java, Spring Cloud/Boot, RxJava based concurrency, Cloud Design Patterns e.g. circuit breaker etc., implemented via use of Netflix Ribbon and Hystrix * Experience with Agile software development practices (Scrum, TDD, XP) **Bonus Points** * Experience with Docker Container technology and Kubernetes Container Orchestration * Experience with Reactive Architecture and 12factor applications * Excellent programming skills * Expertise in OpenStack private cloud * Expertise in test-driven development (TDD) * Experience or knowledge of continuous integration and deployment **Requirements** * BA/BS or equivalent experience * 7-9 years total work experience * Has in-depth knowledge of state-of-the art engineering technical approaches in design, build, testing, debugging problems as required by domain * Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise * Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
