Summary
The Breeding Academy Science Education & Training Specialist supports the Breeding Academy Manager to embed effective and sustainable change in the Seeds Product Development community. To accomplish this, the role plans and executes activities to deliver high quality, science-based education and training materials based on the direction of the Breeding Academy Manager. As well, the role will need to interact with subject matter experts across functions, including Seeds Product Development, Biological Assessment, and Biology Research to contribute to creation, preparation, and review of technical education and training materials. The position is expected to adapt existing technical education and training content into fit-for-purpose delivery packages, as well as create new content based on the direction of the Breeding Academy Manager. The position will also work collaboratively with other Breeding Academy personnel to execute education and training processes.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the planning and execution to develop and deliver education and training packages to support the technical professional development of Syngenta Seeds Product Development employees in a global framework * Interact effectively with R&D Functions and subject matter experts to deliver education and training based on specifications provided * Utilize expertise to convert existing education and training content into fit-for-purpose delivery for Seeds Product Development * Collaborate within the Breeding Academy team to execute education and training processes **Critical successful factors and key challenges** * Effectively planning, managing, creating, and delivering education and training materials based on specifications provided * Engaging effectively across crops and regions to contribute to education and training material development * Given the ongoing evolution of the Breeding Academy program, as well as the development of the Germplasm Delivery function, the role must be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and change * Effectively working in a diverse environment across cultures, geographies, and business units with diverse stakeholders
Ideal Candidate
* Three to five years experience developing and delivering Scientific Education and Training packages for professionals * Three to five years experience supporting Research & Development, preferably Seeds Agriculture-related * Experience working across business functions and geographical boundaries * Experience working in a Project and Program Management environment * Experience working with subject matter experts to leverage their knowledge and experience **Critical knowledge:** * MS degree in an Agriculture, Biological Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field strongly desired or * Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Biological Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field with 3-5 years of experience * General understanding of genetics and the scientific basis of the plant breeding process to develop new inbreds, hybrids, and varieties, as well as relevant genetic and breeding technologies * Knowledge of best practices for developing and delivering technical education and training for professionals **Critical technical, professional, and personal capabilities** * Passion to translate and communicate scientific concepts to other scientists, as well as non-Scientists * Understanding of Agriculture and the Seeds Business * Excellent communication – written and oral * Organization and time management * Ability to work in a highly skilled and focused team that is geographically dispersed * Ability to work autonomously and lead self * Effective influencing skills * Effective working cross-function and cross-region * Ability to collaborate * Ability to adapt quickly to change * Ability to work productively and constructively with diverse stakeholders **Critical leadership capabilities:** * Team-oriented and trusted * Collaborates to meet common goals * Results- and quality oriented * Managing multiple priorities * Building strategic working relationships * Tenacity in accomplishing desired results * Customer-focused * Problem solving abilities * Judgment skills * Strong project management, organization and communication
