Summary
The Architectural Services (AS) Department is part of the larger Sony Pictures Global Facilities Department located on the 44 acre studio lot in Culver City. The AS Department supports project locations that are on- lot as well as at off-lot leased facilities located within the Greater Los Angeles area. From time to time, the department will be called upon to support out of state or international projects from the Culver City location. The scope of assignments will vary from simple client support tasks to more complex projects which may include programming, test fits, space planning and studies, executive refurbishments and all aspects of small (categorized as 500-1500 SF) and medium (categorized as 1500-3000 SF.) and specialized phases of large (categorized as anything above 3000 SF.) tenant improvement projects.
Responsibilities
**Contract Furniture/Design Industry Knowledge:** * The incumbent will be required to demonstrate and apply a solid knowledge of current trends in furniture design and manufacturers with experience in furniture and fixture specifications. The incumbent will be directly responsible for creating and managing all furniture purchase requisitions associated with various projects via the Ariba purchasing application and monitoring status with each vendor. The incumbent will have dedicated responsibilities that include managing the company’s third-party vendors as per the current contractual terms for inventory and installation purposes. Incumbent must demonstrate a solid understand of general systems furniture and their building infrastructure requirements. **Customer Service:** * The incumbent will be required to work with and service a wide variety of clients throughout the studio and will be required to become proficient with the studio’s work order system-Archibus in order to fulfill the various requirements. Incumbent will be required to generate creative and timely design solutions within the company’s corporate space guidelines and available resources. The incumbent will be required to become knowledgeable about the company’s furniture asset inventory and support the establishment of procedures for furniture deployment. It is expected that the incumbent will make independent judgment decisions concerning client requests while adhering to financial boundaries. **Interior Building Code:** * The incumbent is required to have a general understanding on interior building codes for the purpose of tenant improvement projects, space planning and systems furniture configurations. **Construction Documentation:** * The incumbent is required to have a solid understanding of the construction documentation process and must be able to bring a full set of construction documents for permitting or building purposes for small and medium-sized tenant improvement projects and have the ability to detail interior construction. The incumbent must have solid experience with AutoCAD (release 2013) and be able to prepare drawings and documents as per project requirements. **Project Development and Budget:** * The incumbent will have direct involvement in developing and managing project budgets and associated milestone deadlines in conjunction with a project manager. This process may also require coordination with contractors, engineers, vendors and various studio trades. **Fiscal Responsibility:** * $50,000 revenue and/or budget if applicable. Fiscal responsibility will vary based on project or task type.
Ideal Candidate
* 3-5 years practical or related experience in the field of Commercial Interior Design **Education** * BA or BS in Interior Design * Certification/Licenses: May have the NCIDQ or LEED certification, but not required. **Skills** * Proficient in the following applications: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Photoshop. Revit and SketchUp a plus. * Ability to prepare and lead design presentations. * Excellent written and verbal skills. * Self-starter, capable of operating with little supervision and can work both autonomously and in a collaborative team environment and participate in departmental business development initiatives * Ability to manage several different task and project types and their respective deadlines simultaneously, demonstrate strong prioritization skills and effectively convey ideas and solutions.
