Responsibilities
This position reports directly to the owners of Sonoma Partners and is responsible for performing accounting and finance activities including managing an accurate general ledger; preparing financial statements, operational budgets, reporting and managing internal financial controls. This postion works cross-functionally with other areas of the business to ensure accuracy in accounting transactions and financial compliance. Sonoma Partners offers high visibility to leadership, a collaborative work environment and significant levels of autonomy for entrepreneurial self-motivated individuals. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** **Accounting:** * Prepare monthly journal entries in an accurate and timely manner with appropriate supporting documentation (in accordance with GAAP) * Prepare monthly reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts to ensure accurate presentation of financial statements * Liaison with other functional areas to ensure proper accounting for transactions * Review and approve all non-client/project-related expenses * Prepare year-end tax returns (either by yourself or with 3rd party tax consultant) **Finance:** * Peform detailed financial statement analysis to indentify monthly trends * Work with various departments to set up, track and manage budget compliance * Set up and manage financial controls and procedures * Ensure overall trends and the impacts of key initiatives are reflected accurately in the forecast **Operations:** * Work with outside counsel to review Non-Disclosure and Master Service Agreements and ensure contracts comply with key terms and commercial insurance coverage requirements * Analysis and preparation of monthly operational reports including budgets, forecast, management scorecards and revenue recognition
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with a Masters or CPA preferred * 5 - 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a consulting or professional service organization * Experience using a financial general ledger ERP system required * Proven computer skills in Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables and complex reporting * Experience with legal, tax or operations preferred * GAAP experience preferred * Experience with corporate tax and filings preferred * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Trustworthy to maintain strict confidentiality
