Summary
We are seeking a dedicated professional to work closely with the Director of Corporate Communications and Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, and as an integral part of the corporate affairs team supporting communications, sustainability, government affairs, employee engagement, training, diversity and inclusion, and investor relations efforts of the company. The position will handle all details related to corporate affairs and coordination of the team and with other staff and consultants. A four-year degree and several years of corporate or other applicable experience are required.
Responsibilities
* Facilitate the daily functions and operations of corporate affairs team * Provide support, direction and organization for the team * Organize trade and government associations * Maintain company's digital presence, including website and intranet * Manage dissemination process of press releases and other communications materials * Coordinate the Smithfield Foundation, a nonprofit organization that acts as the philanthropic wing of Smithfield Foods, Inc. * Support production of annual sustainability report * Assist in managing internal events, including meetings and conferences * Build and maintain centralized repository of communications materials * Conduct various research projects * Other duties as assigned

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. * Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and 0-2 years of related experience, specifically in lobbying, government, and/or political campaign activities. * Must have a knowledge of general business practices * High level of computer literacy including working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint * Strong attention to detail * Task oriented, excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work load * Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, self-motivated, creative and innovative * Excellent problem solving skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Self-starter who is energetic, motivated and desires to go the extra mile * Proven expertise to organize a significant flow of work, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet demanding deadlines * Follow through on issues in a timely manner * High degree of professionalism * Strong decision making ability * Ability to remain connected and be available outside of regular business hours
