Commercial Real Estate Underwriter

We are currently seeking a Commercial Real Estate Underwriter to join our growing Advisory Division. The candidate must have experience underwriting commercial real estate loans; CMBS experience strongly preferred. A thorough understanding of credit risk and underwriting processes is required. The candidate must have the ability to work on multiple transactions providing accurate, timely and high quality due diligence and underwriting services. * Provide real estate analysis, loan underwriting and debt consulting services to clients. * Analyze and interpret operating statements, rent rolls and leases for commercial properties. * Review and analyze appraisal, engineering, environmental and seismic reports to ensure compliance with client requirements as well as to identify underwriting risks. * Borrower/Sponsor credit review and analysis. * Perform site inspections. * Research real estate market information including interviews with market participants. * Candidates must have strong writing skills to convey deal terms in asset summary report format, including, identification of deal strengths, as well as deal risks and mitigants. * Proforma cashflow modeling based on due diligence findings and in accordance with client and/or rating agency guidelines. * Manage assignments with full accountability for multiple transactions across multiple clients/lending institutions. * Manage client relationships and interact with a wide range of high-level decision-makers. * Mentor, manage and develop junior team members.

* Bachelor’s degree - finance, commercial real estate and/or real estate valuation preferred. * 3+ years of commercial real estate experience. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong analytical skills including advanced Excel knowledge and familiarity with Argus. * Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.
