Full-Stack Engineer

The Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is a groundbreaking graduate school with an innovative Master’s degree program designed specifically to respond to today’s urgent demand for effective and successful educators. Relay is serving 1,400 graduate students across eight campuses in Chicago, Delaware, Houston, Memphis, New Orleans, New York City, Newark, NJ, and Philadelphia & Camden.

• Relay is a technology-driven graduate school of education. Our goal is to train and develop the best teachers in the world. Technology, and specifically Web-based application development, is fundamental and instrumental to our mission. Reporting to the Senior Software Engineer, you will augment our existing codebase to better meet the needs of our students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

We're seeking an outstanding full-stack engineer. You're a smart, friendly, imaginative problem-solver. You're passionate about about the power of great software and tight, well-written code.

Additionally, you:

• Have a minimum of 4 years of experience with non-trivial software development
• Deep knowledge of, and experience with, PHP and the LAMP stack
• Deep knowledge of PHP MVC frameworks and ORMs, in particular: Symfony, Composer and Doctrine
• Extensive experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JSON
• Experience using Git and GitHub for source control
• Authorization to work in the United States
• Native-level spoken and written English

We’d be ecstatic if you also have:

• Technical knowledge of and experience with RESTful Web APIs
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services
• Working knowledge of iterative development methodologies, like Agile; experience with test and test case driven development, along with rapid prototyping
• Familiarity with bug tracking systems like JIRA or Pivotal Tracker
