Human Resources Generalist

Performs Human Resources responsibilities at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, affirmative action compliance, and recruitment.
- Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
- Conducts exit interviews and analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Responds, investigates and resolves employee complaints and employee relations issues.
- Advises management on Company HR policies and procedures and recommends appropriate course of action to be taken.
- Represents the company at unemployment hearings for respective facilities.
- Facilitates and/or provides training (which may include new hire orientation) to the workforce.
- Recruits qualified candidates, reviews applications/resumes, and interviews to match applicants with specific job requirements for all positions in respective facilities.
- Coaches management/advises employees of job opportunities (lateral and promotional) and skill development opportunities.
- Tracks and updates personnel requisitions and works closely with management to ensure integrity/accuracy of staffing levels.
- Prepares applicant flow data on a quarterly basis, conducts audit and submits for final approval.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Requires four year college or university degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
Certification:
- None. PHR certification preferred.
Experience:
- Requires five to eight years experience in Human Resources at the professional level with four or more years of experience in employee relations and recruitment in a manufacturing or related environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Requires:
- Knowledge of current employment laws and legislation.
- Ability to apply CA State and Federal employment laws and other government compliance regulations in preventing and resolving employee issues.
- Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex issues.
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve employee relations issues by using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, and government law.
- Good communication (oral & written) and analytical skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- General office environment, Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to move about an office and travel between facilities.
Environment:
- Exposure to disagreeable elements is negligible.
Safety:
- The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- May occasionally provide guidance to HR Representatives in the absence of the HR Manager.
