Summary
Responsible for administering a variety of established employment policies and programs and supervising departmental staff involved in day-to-day administrative tasks in a non-union environment.
Responsibilities
* Administer established policies and procedures in the areas of employment, training, benefits, and other general plant activities. * Screen and interview job candidates for hourly and salaried non-exempt positions; order drug screens and background checks as required by policy. Work closely with temporary staffing agencies to ensure sufficient, timely, and qualified labor is available for production needs. * Conduct employee training and orientation programs including, but not limited to, new hire orientation, safety, quality, developmental, and compliance. * Ensure that all employee transactions are entered accurately and timely into the HRIS either directly or through subordinate staff. Data entry includes, but is not limited to, hires, terminations, transfers, benefit enrollment, wage changes and leaves of absence. * Administer employee absence programs, policies, and benefits and record absences; such programs may include vacation, personal holidays, FMLA, short term disability, long term disability, and any required accommodation processes related to disability, religion or other need. * Respond to employee and management inquires about company policy and procedure; work collaboratively to obtain best outcome given company policy, legal requirements, collective bargaining agreement, and organization needs. * Administer unemployment claim programs by responding to claims, coordinating and participating in hearings, and responding to other unemployment related inquiries. * Participate in a variety of ongoing audit and compliance programs such as social accountability and affirmative action as directed by management; may include providing reports, completing checklists, developing outreach programs, etc. * Supervise department staff involved in performing routine day to day administrative responsibilities; includes training, coaching, and recommending for hire/termination/promotion. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* 3-5 years Human Resource experience in a manufacturing environment. * Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment law. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Bilingual in Spanish and English. * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience.
