Responsibilities
**Establish department goals that are integrated with:** * Annual department budget * Five Year Plan * Five year budget * Needs of Outage/Management * Safety/Mandated training * Best practices development * Ensure project and program accounting is used * Review actual cost versus budgets **Effectively manages assigned personnel:** * Maintains high employee motivation by empowering personnel and stressing the importance of cooperation. * Assures training of new employees to obtain proficiency within a reasonable time for the particular job. * Effectively implements performance standards/goals. * Provides timely and helpful feedback, counseling and coaching. * Actively assists employees in relating his/her job to the overall company operations and goals. * Delegates progressively greater responsibilities whenever possible. * Is willing to recommend his/her best employees for promotional opportunities. * Offers assistance to employees who have personal problems that impact job performance. * Gives specific recognition to personnel for their contributions. * Demonstrates ability to select suitable personnel and train them to assume specific responsibilities. * Establishes and maintains two-way communication with all levels of supervision under his/her jurisdiction, including administrative and represented employees. **Ability to plan for the accomplishment of goals:** * Adjusts to changing conditions and reacts accordingly; accomplishes planned results * Assesses the material and staffing requirements to complete a job. * Assign projects to staff members. * Plans for work in advance and sets milestones to monitor and document the progress of work. * Is able to determine and set priorities despite interruptions and contradictory information. * Establishes priorities and makes full and efficient use of available time. * Effectively responds to unusual situations by communicating promptly with affected parties and requesting assistance to assure timely solutions. * Identifies obstacles to completing assignments with recommendations for correction. **Business Planning and Organizing Skills** * Manage any assigned project to ensure scope, schedule and budget are met. * Develop scope, schedule, budget, and personnel roles, as required. * Prepare technical specifications to aid the Procurement Department in obtaining project equipment, materials and services. * Perform and/or coordinate project analysis and justifications (Job Estimate) * Integrate plans with day to day work planning, Five Year Planning, Overhaul Planning and annual budgets * Ensure reports and drawings are loaded into the document management system. * Facilitate the management of change process for major system changes. **Safeguards personnel and physical resources.** * Enforces all appropriate regulations and rules and keeps abreast of all safety and housekeeping practices and how they apply. * Accepts responsibility for facilities image. * Institutes changes when necessary, to improve the safety within or outside of area of responsibility. * Identifies and addresses safety hazards and violations. * Ensures that required safety records are maintained. **Communicates to a variety of audiences in an effective manner to ensure coordinated efforts of all.** * Communicates to all relevant parties - e.g. peers, subordinates, higher management, external parties, in a timely, complete and accurate manner. * Says or does what is best or is necessary, thoughtfully and with consideration. * Recognizes that there are two sides to most situations; therefore chooses words carefully and acts considerately. * Is effective under difficult situations. * Demonstrates concern for the other person, as an individual, whether a subordinate or superior in rank. * Offers assistance whenever possible in projects and programs not directly under his/her control. * Is a good listener; Ideal Candidate
**Required Qualifications** * Highschool Diploma or GED * Minimum of 3 years of power generation experience * Demonstrated management experience **Preferred Qualifications** * Preferred candidate has a through working knowledge of SAP. * Preferred candidate has 6 years of Technical and Maintenance experience * BS in Engineering or related field * 10 years in Power Generation experience * 6 years of technical and maintenance experience
