Summary
Under the general direction of Consumer Products Group (CPG) senior leader, McKesson seeks category portfolio leader to deliver industry-leading results. CPG's direction to guide the future of customer segment builds through total management ownership of the portfolio. This change leader creates the framework for the future of CPG across all of McKesson's non-Rx programs. Strategic thinking, teamwork, supplier market analysis, and strong influencing skills are paramount to successful candidacy. This highly visible position is the model for change management in consumer pharmaceutical distribution. This position is a strategic category leader accountable to define McKesson’s CPG ISMC segment go-to market plan through creation of total value chain solutions. This position is the expert advisor to internal stakeholders that positions CPG as a long-term profitable, value-added addition to McKesson’s current suite of customer tools.
Responsibilities
* Strategic thinker that embraces / values change leadership * Defines and directs category strategy * Monitors the development of business plans, managing lifecycles, and product position * Oversees market research, monitors competition, and identifies customer needs * Establishes pricing strategies and tiers * Interfaces with cross-functional groups to develop new products or enhance current tools * Acts as a technical advisor for specific healthcare product(s) assigned (e.g. medical devices, etc.) * Create and nurture a leadership culture within category management * Develop and lead long-term strategic planning process (i.e. merchandising programs to deliver industry-leading results); review, approve and allocate resources against plans * Develop and lead annual segment business planning process including budgets,forecasts and financial targets 1-3-5 years out; approve category and sub-category targets and any forecasted deviations from plan * Fully own the segment product process including P&L responsibility for attaining budgeted revenue and profit * Review and approve recommended category line review decisions, plan-o-grams, and pricing tiers as it relates to the consumer group’s strategic business plan and financial targets * Create and support segment team culture of constant innovation, freshness and improvement; embrace, develop and drive new ideas and thinking including enhancements to process, communication, tools, systems, items, and programs * Effectively collaborate cross-functionally, especially with sales, marketing, finance, and replenishment team members, in order drive results * Establish and maintain supplier relationships and negotiate supplier cost, quality and delivery terms; address escalated issues related to replenishment and work with suppliers to resolve quickly * Stay current on customer, consumer and competitive marketplace trends; communicate business needs and opportunities to senior management * Develop best in class capabilities to gather consumer insights and determine how to apply new learning; adjust resources and/or priorities accordingly
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years of product management experience including 2+ years managerial experience * Bachelor degree * Ability to collaborate with all levels of sales leadership * Risk management (inventory, supplier) * Executive level presentation ability * Prior product / supplier experience (product marketing in medical, retail, or merchandising) * MS Office proficiency - Intermediate Access, Excel, and PowerPoint skills * Business Intelligence experience using Business Objects or SQL * Understanding of the independent drug market, retail national accounts, and hospital systems * Process improvement background in FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) * Strong Analytical Skills * Strong Negotiation/influencing skills * Tableau scorecard functioning * Relationship Building skills * Ability to collaborate across different channels * Independent Self Starter * Six Sigma * MBA preferred - MBA preferred in Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent experience - General Office Demands
