- Support Field Manager by leading and providing direction for day-to-day operations of Field Department
- Promote professional relations between the company and grower/suppliers through farm and storage visits.
- Assist and participate in raw potato contract negotiations, contract development and procurement requirements.
- Recommend contract language changes necessary to secure required raw volume, price and quality.
- Coordinate purchasing activity with forecast requirements.
- Partner with Manufacturing to ensure the volume and quality of raw aligns with production requirements.
- Contract raw product volume with grower/suppliers and monitor their operations.
- Inspect, gather, analyze and report potato crop growth data and field activities of contract grower/suppliers.
- Proactively communicate with grower/suppliers key improvement areas with respect to production, quality, food safety, alignment and diversity spend.
- Coach and provide support to Field Representatives on the supervision and evaluation of potato handlers, scale clerks, laboratory technicians and seasonal laborers
- Proactively inspect and monitor raw product storage facilities for environmental conditions and product quality.
- Proactively collect and process grower/suppliers field and storage records including seed source data, chemical application records, & agronomic data.
- Monitor grower/suppliers compliance with USDA Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) program. Assure that they are complying with on farm audits.
- Assure compliance of raw potato traceability records and food safety requirements.
- Collect industry agronomic and cost of production information.
- Attend and participate in agricultural production education meetings to gain knowledge of current agricultural practices.
- Maintain Field Department budget.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Agronomy or relevant discipline
- 5-7 years relevant working experience, preferably within agricultural, manufacturing and/or quality
- Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to development and nurture strong cross-functional and departmental relationships
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
- Superior negotiation and relationship management skills
- Exceptional management and execution skills
- Excellent command of English, both verbal & written
- Proven achievement in prior employment
