Summary
The Benefits Manager is responsible for the strategic and tactical planning of all group benefit programs for USA. Provides leadership by balancing the needs of the business with the annual renewal, open enrollment and communications processes. This position is a team leader and must ensure ongoing legal compliance and communication of Metso’s benefit programs.
Responsibilities
* Administer employee benefits programs including but not limited to medical, dental, vision; life insurance; short and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, EAP, etc. * Evaluate and compare existing company benefits to market data to determine company’s competitive position and develop recommendations for modifications/new plans accordingly * Responsible for administration of new and existing plans to include legal compliance, review of all benefit communications materials as well as benefits orientation and eligibility notifications. * Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Facilitates proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees. * Responsible for administering company retirement plans (traditional 401(k) and Roth) including eligibility and ERISA notifications, employee education * Partner with HRIS and IT team to configure HRIS for benefit plans, rate tables, and interfaces to carriers. Monitor and audit benefit records to ensure integrity of data between systems. * Administers training and works with leadership to identify and evaluate new training needs. * Responds and resolves employee, supervisor and management inquiries regarding benefits. * Oversees the monitoring and tracking of leaves of absence (FMLA and LOA), in conjunction with payroll reconciliation. * Coordinates with HRIS internal and external resources to customize and update all benefits applications. Ensures effective administration of benefits, including user acceptance testing accurate data collection and analysis, as well as maintaining accurate employee records. * Develops and implements comprehensive compliance/governance processes for all plans and oversees ongoing monitoring of these processes to ensure effective compliance with regulatory standards. * Efficiently manages work flows and deadlines. Performs short and long term planning, makes policy and program recommendations. Recommends/initiates new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continuous improvement within the established programs. * Suggests and creates process improvements and performs other duties and projects as assigned by management
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year College or university required. Bachelor Degree in Business Administration preferred; Benefits certification (CEBS) preferred * 3+ years of Benefit Administration background; 1+ years of management * Experience with benefits/health program design and implementation * Strong analytics, metrics and benefits KPIs * Strong customer focus; ability to partner with all levels of the organization * Ability to plan, coordinate and drive multiple projects with varying deadlines * Detail-oriented and able to leverage analytical skills to monitor department statistics to escalate opportunities * Ability to communicate well (oral and written) and possesses good problem solving skills * Thorough knowledge of US government requirements and laws in relation to defined benefit and defined contribution retirement benefit plans * Knowledge and experience with government requirements and laws in relation to all benefit plans in Canada **Skills & Abilities** * Must be self-directed and motivated. Able to make decisions within the boundaries of authority. * Excellent client management and business literacy skills. * Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results. * Ability to understand issues domestically and internationally and communicate effectively within all levels of the organization. * Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. * Visual acuity is required to read and produce accurate materials.
