Summary
MarkitSERV is seeking an experienced Application Support professional. The role encompasses 2nd line technical application support for our Trade Processing applications. This person will work with a global team to contribute to the quality of our support.
Responsibilities
* This role will provide on-site or remote technical support to clients in the US and Canada. This includes diagnosing problems, technical analysis of the issue, analysis of log files, liaising with the client’s in-house technical support team and the trading venues technical support teams; resolution of issues by re-configuring services, adding or changing parameters or delivering, installing and configuring upgraded services. * Provide remote technical support to clients in other regions (EMEA and Asia) when coverage is needed. * Monitor and support all services running remotely at the off-site data centre. * This is a fully managed service and this role will provide the clients with in-house support monitoring for all services and pro-actively identify issues working with the support team of the trading venue vendor when issues are identified – these must be resolved in a time critical fashion as it impacts the clients trading, position and risk exposure. * Part of the role will include assisting in gathering new business requirements from users and preparing and configuring solutions to meet their needs where existing components exist.
Ideal Candidate
**Business Competencies** **Education and experience** * University graduate or equivalent * Must have at least 3-5 years Application Support experience with customer facing capability * Good working knowledge on C++, Microsoft Server, Workstation platforms, and SQL Server are a must as the system implementation uses standard services written in this language and running on Windows Server with a SQL Server database. * Experience in any of the following would be an advantage: Messaging, STP, market data systems, Reuters Dealing, hosted ASP solutions. * Familiarity with multi-protocol integration of systems such as FIX, FpML ,HTTPS, SWIFT, Reuters TOF, TCP/IP, MQ, XML would be an advantage and necessary for the role. * Ideally would have experience of working in the Finance Industry. * Ideally would have experience of using DealHub **Commercial awareness** * Excellent understanding of software systems and technology. * Good understand of Application Support processes. **Management requirements** * Leadership qualities a plus. **Personal Competencies** **Personal impact** * Confident Individual – able to represent the team at various levels. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills. * Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to prioritize and multi-task balancing technical, business and other drivers Customer Focused * An Owner – Making sure tasks are followed through and completed. * Open minded, flexible and willing to adapt to changing situations. * Process Oriented – happy to recommend, work to and support good processes and controls. **Communication** * Must be a good communicator both written and verbally for this role is also customer facing aside from engaging with internal core teams. * Must be able to successfully communicate handover of issues inwards from London and outwards to APAC in a Follow the Sun support model. **Teamwork** * Must be able to work in a team environment.
