Summary
Position is responsible for designing, documenting, and maintaining SAN/NAS technologies. The position will be required to work closely with vendors and business partners, as well as our Operations and Solutions Engineering teams to design and manage complex and diverse storage solutions depended upon by a dynamic customer base. An emphasis is placed on delivering highly scalable, cost effective, and high performing designs. The storage engineer will participate in a follow-the-sun (FTS) support model requiring frequent and clear communications related to globally managed efforts.
Responsibilities
- Participate in projects to deploy, expand, and update the storage technology infrastructure - Respond quickly and effectively to storage failures and incidents, ensuring that customer data is protected, and correcting root cause to prevent future occurrences - Adhere closely to Change Management policies and processes - Create and maintain operational documentation used by the global storage teams - Work with clients and account teams to provision and configure storage - Participate in a global support model and a regional on-call rotation - Perform Problem Management processes to bring recurring issues to resolution and closure - Serve in an ownership role along with other team members to continuously improve services, streamline internal processes, and maximize infrastructure effectiveness
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Qualifications:** - Minimum of 5 years of IT operations experience - Minimum of 3 years of technical experience with HP, NetApp, EMC, Brocade SAN, or NAS technologies - Associate’s degree or higher in a technically relevant field is preferred - Proven analytical and problem solving skills and the ability them in a collaborative manner - Strong focus on delivering excellent customer service - Ability to manage complexity, changing priorities and conditions - Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, and meet demanding deadlines in a fast paced environment - Strong troubleshooting skills and able to work with other team members effectively - Ability to work with a global team as well as independently with minimal supervision to achieve project milestones and deadlines - Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to various audiences with clarity and confidence - Willingness to work additional hours and weekends when necessary to resolve incidents or perform change activity - Familiarity with ITIL concepts and best practices - Must be self-motivated, driven for success and carry a desire for personal and corporate growth - Significant knowledge and understanding of SAN and NAS technologies, architecture, connectivity, deduplication, replication, encryption, and the interdependencies between the hosting OS (clients and servers), and network - Significant experience in designing, implementing and supporting server virtualization from a storage, backup, cloning and recovery perspective in a highly available/redundant environment - Expert knowledge in a subset of the following SAN Fabric and other technologies: - HP 3PAR - EMC Storage Products - Hitachi Storage Products - NetApp Clustered Mode * NetApp 7mode - Brocade SAN switches - HP technologies - Solaris, Linux, Windows 2003/2008/2012 - VMware vSphere 4.x/5.x, vCenter - Oracle DB and RAC, Microsoft SQL, mySQL - WAN / LAN network configurations - Microsoft Server Infrastructure including Windows server, Active Directory, DNS - Information Security - Cloud architecture **Preferred Qualifications:** - Programming and Scripting Skills, Active Perl and Shell scripting - Experience in an enterprise data center operation, supporting high-availability infrastructure - ITIL Foundation certification
