Vice President of Lending

The VP of Lending is responsible for the quality of the Credit Union’s consumer and mortgage loan portfolio. This will be accomplished by implementing sound credit risk management practices including oversight of loan mortgage processing, underwriting, post-close fulfillment and servicing, credit risk management and monitoring, FRA management and overall lending compliance. This position is responsible for supporting a loan origination process that maximizes the effectiveness of the Credit Union’s existing lending philosophy. An emphasis is placed on identifying and developing talented employees to become future leaders within the organization.

* Lead the departments of Loan Operations and Loan Administration. * Build a strong, effective team by holding them to a high standard, communicating effectively, and focusing on positive relationships with staff. * Ensure all consumer and portfolio mortgage loans conform to internal documentation and servicing standards as well as all applicable lending laws and regulations. Overall accountability for compliance with all regulations including but not limited to TILA, HMDA, Reg B. * Assist in establishing and monitoring department budgets to ensure efficient operations. Monitors budgets and makes operational changes to meet established goals. * Create and monitor policies and procedures for the departments. Ensure that policies and procedures reflect external rules and regulations and are effectively communicated and implemented by all staff. * Create and monitor policies and procedures related to operational controls for the retail lending staff including, but not limited to, Loan Underwriting Guidelines, Collections Procedures, and Loan Modification Procedure. * Responsible for reconciliations and execution of adequate internal controls to present accurate financial statements and reporting including preparation of all loan information for 5300 Call Reports. * Develop staff to respond to technical and operational questions or problems from credit union staff and make appropriate improvements in organizational processes. * Increase the productivity and quality of loan originators by working with peers across business functions to improve internal processes. * Establish a goal-oriented work environment that rewards high levels of service to both internal and external customers. * Continuously improve processes with a focus * on member service, first-pass quality and efficiency. * Provide a disciplined approach to managing production and risk in an environment of decentralized lending authority. * Expectations:** * Lead department communication processes, to include regular staff meetings and liaison with other business functions and community groups as appropriate. * Provide exceptional member service to both internal and external customers. * Abide by all applicable rules, regulations and Marine Credit Union policies and procedures. * Builds and maintains constructive cross-departmental relationships to execute on the goals of the organization. * Successfully execute on work priorities as directed by Executive Management.

**Experience:** * In depth knowledge of non-conforming real estate and consumer lending and servicing * In depth experience analyzing portfolio credit risk and loss mitigation strategies * Ability to develop lean business processes. * Experience leading employees in a goal oriented environment. * Experience managing projects involving process improvements and changes to enhance operating efficiency **Education:** Bachelor's degree in marketing, finance, business administration or equivalent experience. Postgraduate degree preferred.
