Summary
The Sr. Human Resources Director is accountable to provide strategic HR leadership and direction, to the US & Canada regions, which delivers over 65% of Libbey’s revenue and volume. As a key executive team member, the Sr. Human Resources Director will lead all US & Canada HR initiatives in order to develop talent, grow capabilities and transform Libbey’s culture.
Responsibilities
**Talent Acquisition & Retention** * Partner with region leaders to forecast talent acquisition needs and develop recruiting and staffing strategies to fill gaps * Partner with Manager, Talent Acquisition to establish/refine robust processes to monitor and track recruiting & staffing progress and costs * Establish process and metrics for retention of key talent **Talent & Organization Development** * Lead and champion the annual talent review, succession planning and individual development processes * Partner with business leaders to define critical organization capabilities needed to support the region’s business strategy. Design strategies and business plans to develop these capabilities within the region, through talent planning, external training, OTJ training and other initiatives. * Champion the performance management process, ensuring defined goals and metrics are in place * Lead the annual merit and incentive processes, as well as ongoing compensation administration **Culture Transformation** * Lead the rollout and supporting initiatives around Libbey’s strategy implementation * Own the “Passion for Winning” behavior expectation and communication campaign within the US & Canada region; coach leaders and associates to drive the behaviors expected to support our strategy * Lead the periodic engagement survey process and related action plan development/tracking * In partnership with Corporate HR, define communications strategy and lead all associate communications for the US & Canada region, including monthly Town Hall meetings, bi-weekly one-pager email blogs from the VP, USC, and plant communication initiatives **Labor & Associate Relations** * Partner with management to proactively prevent, and actively manage, associate relations issues, including fair and consistent application of policies and disciplinary action * Provide leadership and guidance to managers and associates on company policies and processes * Partner with Plant, Corporate and US & Canada leaders to develop and implement a long-term labor relations strategy * Partner with business leaders, internal counsel and outside labor partners, to establish, plan for and participate in union collective bargaining contract negotiations * Establish and maintain productive and cooperative relationships with each of the 5 bargaining units * Proactively prevent, and actively resolve, all disputes, grievances and arbitrations in a manner that supports Libbey’s long-term labor strategy, existing policies and defined disciplinary processes **HR Cost Management, Processes and Metrics** * Participate as a member of the Global HR senior leadership team * Provide leadership, coaching and development to HR Team, to ensure continuous growth and development and high levels of performance * Develop, report and track appropriate HR metrics * Ensure ongoing compliance with all legal and procedural requirements; conduct routine compliance audits and implement corrective actions * Actively look for, and implement, actions to reduce HR costs and improve efficiency * Support HR Department effectiveness by establishing standardized, documented and sustainable processes for routine transactions and leveraging manager/associate self-service opportunities
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred * Minimum 12-15 years of experience in successively challenging senior HR or other business positions. * Previous managerial leadership experience required * Depth and breadth of experience as an HR generalist * Strong business acumen - prior experience in a role outside of HR is strongly preferred * Solid understanding and knowledge of Human Resource practices in recruitment, organization development, policy administration, benefits, training and associate relations * Prior experience with labor negotiations and working in a union environment * Proven organizational leadership capabilities, expertise in implementing and managing change * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills * Strong project management and presentation skills * Currently operating at an HR Director or business unit leader level * Strong team player as well as an individual “hands-on” contributor * Comfortable and capable seeing the big picture; able to think conceptually and strategically, yet manage details and deadlines to deliver measurable results * Capable of managing multiple challenging assignments concurrently; moving swiftly and decisively, but collaboratively and effectively with others * High energy and self-motivated; confident and courageous leading change * Honest, ethical, humane and personable * Ability to multi-task, remain highly organized and thrive in a deadline-driven environment * Ability to persevere with resilience in the face of challenges and adversity
