Summary
The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for leadership of Toledo Distribution Center (TDC), the satellite Perrysburg Distribution Center (PDC) and other outside warehouse(s), and the National Fulfillment Center (NFC).
Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand all aspects of the TDC/PDC/NFC. This includes gaining knowledge of all plant/DC operations, processes, systems (Manhattan WMS/TE/LM), warehouse equipment, products, customer requirements (internal and external), supplier capacity and capabilities, productivity and quality standards - Possess knowledge of Lean techniques and utilize Lean tools to eliminate waste and add value to the TDC/PDC/NFC Operations. The DC Manager must also encourage and teach/train his/her team to use these techniques and tools on a regular basis - Partner with Libbey's internal groups (Production Management, Customer Relations, Quality Assurance, Production Planning, Sales and Support Services such as Purchasing, Production Engineering, Maintenance and Machine Repair) to ensure the comprehensive needs of the business and our customers are understood, then develop and successfully execute plans that meet those needs (the four "M's" - Man, Machine, Materials, and Methods) - Develop both short term and long term visions for each area that includes all four "M's". The DC Manager will share these visions with his/her direct reports and warehouse employees and ensure their actions and behaviors support the vision - Partner with Plant Accounting to develop Operating and Capital Budgets for each area of his/her responsibility - The DC Manager will play a key role in making sure that each department has sufficient hourly and salaried manpower to support the respective operations - The DC Manager will travel to outside distribution center(s), customer sites, or Corporate Office to help problem solve, collaborate or share best practices. The DC Manager will be active in professional associations, attend conferences and webinars, and read trade periodicals to keep abreast of current trends and technologies (equipment and software) for application in his/her operation - Develop standard operating policies and procedures covering all warehouse operations
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required, Master's Degree a plus - Lean Champion Certification preferred - A track record of continuous improvement in reducing operating expense and improving safety, inventory accuracy and customer service - Computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, & PowerPoint) - Project management and change management skills - Experienced in developing operating and capital budgets - Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Labor Management Systems (LM), and Yard Management Systems (YMS) - Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance - Experience working with bargaining units - Must be able to effectively instruct and lead others utilizing Lean philosophies
