Summary
The Senior Manager is responsible for inspiring a spirit of team work and trust amongst a team of accountants to ensure Corporate Accounting responsibilities are completed accurately and on a timely basis. Primary responsibilities include motivating a team of accountants to perform at their best, sharing accounting knowledge that allows them to continue to improve their accounting skills and business judgment, overseeing day-to-day accounting tasks, assessing current processes for efficiency, proposing and implementing solutions, and leading or assisting with special projects.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of accountants to ensure asset data is capitalized in accordance with Company policy and fixed asset accounting tasks (journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, and reporting) are completed accurately and timely. Collaborate and coordinate with Apartment, Office, Retail and Resort divisions on timely asset submissions in accordance with the monthly close calendar. * Oversee accounting for fixed assets (asset additions, adjustments, transfers and retirements), project system, water intrusion and property taxes including the review of fixed asset account reconciliations. Oversee fixed asset month-end and year-end closing procedures. * Collaborate with the Tax Department, Financial Planning and Division accountants on tax forecast, special projects, internal and external audit requests and tax year-end close. * Coordinate annual fixed asset budgeting and forecasting for the Corporate Accounting Department. * Prepare working papers and schedules for the Company’s interim and fiscal year-end financial audit and calendar year-end tax return. * Utilize SAP and BI to prepare executive level asset reports monthly. Work with BI queries to create ad-hoc reports for consumption and analytics. * Participate in and/or lead IT projects. Also, improve technical processes utilizing advanced Excel skills requiring analytical thinking. * Lead, participate and contribute to other duties as requested.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required. CPA preferred. * 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3 or more years of managerial experience. * Strong technical accounting skills. Experience with fixed asset accounting. Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills. SAP experience, a plus. * Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Willingness to embrace change and ability to deal with ambiguity. * Highly self-motivated with a positive team-player attitude. * Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills. A professional manner necessary for collaborative interaction with Corporate and operating division personnel.
