Summary

American Modern Insurance Group is seeking a results-oriented Accounting Professional with demonstrated self-motivation and creativity, excellent communication skills (oral and written), and strong team orientation. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with co-workers and clients to develop and implement solutions to streamline processes and use strong financial and accounting skills in a variety of ways.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and Analyze financial statements on both an IFRS and Statutory basis including analytic reviews distributed to management & parent company
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls and monitoring
  • Prepare and/or review accounting entries including such items as Reinsurance, Intercompany transactions with US and International affiliates, Program Business, and Additional Closing entries to finalize Monthly & Quarterly Reporting to Internal Management & International Parent Company.
  • Research accounting pronouncements and implement appropriate steps to comply with the accounting guidance.
  • Prepare & Review State Premium Tax returns and other filings in addition to monitoring correspondence as needed with the State departments of Insurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience with a large public accounting firm or corporate accounting department
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent
  • Proficiency with all other Microsoft Office applications (Word)
  • Agility and ability to work in ambiguous situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience with a large public accounting firm or corporate accounting department
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance & CPA
  • Knowledge of IFRS and Statutory Accounting Standards (NAIC)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Cognos Reporting & Query Studio.
  • Previous experience with SAP and SAP Business Warehouse reporting tool
