Summary
Ryan Specialty Group has an opening for a Staff Accountant to join the team in our Chicago Corporate Center. The Staff Accountant will assistance with GAAP and tax financial reporting, preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyses as required for financial reporting. Additionally, assistance with due diligence and valuation work on acquisitions.
Responsibilities
* Gain knowledge of financial statement assertions through preparation of close documentation. * Work with managers, seniors, and experienced staff to develop documentation techniques including preparation following external audit-style formats. * Develop technical accounting skills by performing research, assisting management in reaching conclusions, documenting implementation of conclusions, and clearly presenting supporting work papers to the auditors * Assist in building close documentation including lead schedules, roll-forwards, and analytics support the reported financial statements. Prepare detailed account reconciliations underlying the lead schedules. * Assistance in due diligence, including preliminary valuations, substantive testing, working through valuation adjustments, assistance with the coordination of tax and valuation experts as appropriate. * Working with IT support, gain knowledge of financial reporting systems. * Prepare analyses and reports using HFM, the general ledger, transactional ledgers, and Excel. * Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger system in assigned areas. * Assist in external financial statement preparation, MD&A, and audit support. * Build and maintain internal and external relationships. * Identify efficiencies and implement improvements. * Complete professional education requirements.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and eligibility to sit for CPA examination. * Ability to periodically travel domestically and internationally. * Strong problem-solving and creative skills. * Strong presentation and interpersonal skills. * Excellent written and oral communication.
