Summary
The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for identifying needs, creating strategies and developing and implementing communications plans that support the company's strategic direction and growth objectives by helping employees better understand the competitive landscape, align them around cultural initiatives and build and expand their engagement with the company. The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for creating awareness of Insight’s vision, building and strengthening Insight’s brand and culture and communicating various change management initiatives to a range of distinct target audiences across the organization. This includes leading the Internal Communications team, managing high-profile projects from inception to completion, strategizing, researching and creating content for multiple communications vehicles including eNewsletters, leadership messaging, intranet sites, videos, blogs, etc. This role is also responsible for supporting executive communications requests and Marketing projects (e.g., presentations, materials for Board of Directors meetings, support of Synergy and Evolve, email and video communications to key stakeholders, potential teammates, etc.)
Responsibilities
* Lead the Internal Communications function and provide direction and oversight for a communications coordinator. Manager must also be a sole contributor, writing and executing in addition to defining strategy. * Direct and develop all employee communications planning and strategies across all North American business units. Develop short and long-term plans that help to connect the dots for diverse teams across the organization. * Produce, write, direct, write, develop year-long strategy for Inside Insight, Insight's intranet. Look for new opportunities to improve our internal communications vehicle, while ensuring adoption remains at an extremely high level. * Shape and communicate the dynamic Insight story to a broad range of teammates. * Lead communication and engagement efforts towards our goal of making Insight a “Great Place to Work.” * Strategize, research, write and disseminate communications materials (eNewsletters, executive messages, presentations, intranet postings), plan and oversee live events, online communications, print materials, video presentations and other relevant channels, to inform, engage and energize teammates. * Lead cross-functional team of internal teammates and external consultants to launch new intranet platform, ensuring company requirements are met, on time and within budget, and new platform provides a consistent, dependable experience for all users, allowing teammates to work more efficiently and feel more connected to fellow teammates. * Create full scope of communications for wide variety of employee initiatives, raising awareness about important issues including: 180 Degree Survey; Benefits Open Enrollment; Best Place to Work; High Performance Cycle; Quarterly Global Thank You Messages from CEO; Teammate Net Promoter Score and organizational change announcements. * Direct development and execution of full range of employee engagement projects including: “Shark Tank”; quarterly town-hall meetings with senior leaders; annual kickoff meetings; internal quarterly earnings announcement (including video and script creation); Corporate Equality Index; recognition of annual Values Winners and Strategy Posters. * Create monthly column and weekly internal social media post from the perspective of CEO, encouraging teammates to gain senior leader’s insights and feel more connected to him on a personal level. * Support Reach and the In it Together Foundation, serving as member of sub-committee, strategizing awareness/participation campaigns to increase employee engagement in this charitable endeavor. * Lead agenda creation for monthly meeting of Insight senior leaders, ensuring top leaders remain aware of important decisions and changes throughout the organization and can cascade knowledge to their teams as needed. * Manage editorial calendar and processes to ensure the right level of exposure for company initiatives, as well as measurement and tracking activities. * Provide communications counsel to executives, peers and all teammates. * To perform other duties as assigned. **Essential Functions of Job:** * Strong comprehension of complex business strategy, key financial considerations, the competitive landscape and industry game changers. * Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills that reflect an ability to clarify and simplify complicated issues and technical subject matter, with a versatility in tone and technique, depending on the author and/or audience. * Display appropriate level of professionalism and interpersonal skills with various internal audiences, from senior leaders to front-line teammates. * Possess self-motivation, be proactive and able to deliver excellence and innovation, be capable of delivering results and working well under pressure, prioritizing multiple projects with competing deadlines based on those with the most strategic importance. * Superior critical thinking, problem solving and conceptual skills. * Work independently and collaboratively as part of a talented, evolving Internal Communications team that specializes in acting as strategic advisors, brand ambassadors and storytellers. * Strong organizational skills and detail orientation while still seeing the big picture. * Proficient with full Microsoft Office suite
Ideal Candidate
**Education and/or Experience:** * B.A. in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or equivalent area * Five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven to 10 years of demonstrated progressive growth in internal/employee, executive communications, high-profile project leadership, creating and executing full strategic communication plans for VIP audiences, transformational change management and providing counsel to senior leaders. Ability to master complex business strategies and convey these concepts when communicating with the general teammate population. Ability to adopt executive “voices” for written communications for multiple senior leaders. Proven track record of leading internal communications for a global organization with geographically and functionally diverse constituencies. Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment with diverse stakeholders. Must build consensus, move projects forward, and compromise while maintaining composure and production quality under deadline pressure. Ability to “lead from the middle,” building coalitions to create progress. The intellectual depth, maturity and confidence to earn the trust of senior leadership, Strong personal integrity and work ethic, superior judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality are pivotal for this role. Demonstrated success in managing both people and projects. Proven ability to manage and coach staff, both in working with direct reports and in working with peers and others as an advisor. Must be one who takes ownership and strives for flawless execution. Is an effective decision maker who takes initiative, sets high standards and drives results. Anticipates and adapts quickly to change. Thinks and acts strategically, with focus on the customer. Attracts and retains talent. Empowers, engages and inspires others.
