Responsibilities
* Perform the month-end financial close process including the preparation and posting of journal entries, the preparation of month end accruals and the preparation of general ledger account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations. * Evaluate and interpret monthly profit and loss income statements in order to analyze profitability of business units and help ensure all monthly journal entries have been properly posted. * Performs work as necessary for annual and interim budgets for the corporate related items * Work with Accounting Supervisor to research and resolve balance sheet reconciling items in a timely manner. * Assist with the preparation of schedules for the annual financial statement audit, participate in financial accounting system upgrades, participate in the annual close and roll of the general ledger, and perform other duties as assigned. * Research, interpret, and communicate appropriate accounting policies for complex accounting transactions. * Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual external reporting, audited financial statements, etc. * Support all business unit Finance personnel in managing balance sheet accountability, as well as support them in the monthly closing ad hoc reporting processes
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) with a major in accounting, finance or related field * 2 – 4 years of prior accounting, finance or audit experience required, public accounting experience preferred * Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial accounting concepts * Analytical aptitude – strong problem solving skills; math aptitude * Standard office practices and accounting procedures on automated systems * Computer systems and equipment as well as report generation * Intermediate-level Excel skills as well as familiarity with other Microsoft Office products * Ability to proceed independently, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks requiring extensive follow-up and timely completion of projects with minimal instruction * Demonstrated strong oral
