Summary
Implement Honda of America Mfg., Inc. (HAM) Material Service Department’s health and safety policy and procedures so that all associates have a safe and healthy working environment. Ensure that the department complies with all current and future regulations and laws.
Responsibilities
* Work directly with contracted logistics company and plant safety, conduct safety audits to identify workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, working practices, or working conditions. * Lead, coordinate and complete root cause analysis and implement countermeasures. * Design and develop health and safety goals that are in compliance with company policies, standards and regulations. * Maintain and analyze records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern. * Educate and train HAM’s workforce on health and safety policies and standards. * Ensure first aid supplies and resources are available in accordance with regulations and HAM’s health and safety policies. * Establish annual workplace safety objectives for the upcoming year. * Lead the safety business plan and budget development. * Develop and present the monthly/quarterly reports to management. * Collaborate with NKP Safety Lead associates and department safety associates with goals/activities including mentoring. * Develop and maintain a strong relationship with contracted logistics company, Plant Medical, Purchasing and other Honda safety leadership. * Develop workplace safety procedures for the department and communicate to department. * Support the plant ergoParticipate in safety unit auditing activities, assist in the development of schedules and auditing content. nomics program by conducting process analysis. * Present department safety results and initiatives to associates of all levels. * Review equipment specifications for safety non-conformance. * Enforce and promote workplace safety by conducting training classes and refresher courses as needed. * Lead, coordinate and complete root cause analysis and implement countermeasures. * Lead all line modification acceptances for mass production approval. **Daily Tasks:** * Support Purchasing and contracted logistics company safety activities, investigations and countermeasures. * Complete supporting analysis, paperwork and reports to manage safety related activity. * Act as ongoing interface with customers to exceed their expectations. * Assure Purchasing and other contracted logistics company compliance with OSHA applicable codes, recognized industry standards and internal budget and schedule constraints. * Interface with outside consultants, code officials and engineers. * Mentor contracted logistics company Safety Leads. * Perform additional tasks and special projects as needed.
Ideal Candidate
* Strong problem solving/root cause analysis skills. * Strong management skills. * Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office applications). * Self-motivated. * Ability to lead, mentor and teach others. * Ability to work both independently and as a team member. * Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) proposals to plant/senior management/customers. * Ability to analyze data and perform trend analysis. **Experience:** * Bachelors’ degree in a Safety related field or experience greater than five years in Safety Management. * Two years experience in leading a team or project. * Experience with interpreting and applying OSHA and general industry safety regulations and guidelines **Degree:** * Bachelors’ degree in a Safety related field or equivalent experience in Safety management.
