You must have proven skills in conceptual design, interaction design and visual design. You must be able to work well with engineers and product managers to be successful at designing simple solutions to challenging problems.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to design simple and delightful user interfaces for new and existing Grand Rounds products
- Probe challenging problems to gain a deep understanding of user goals and behaviors
- Use your solid understanding of usability heuristics to evaluate new and existing features and offer viable suggestions for improvements
- Develop mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and ideas
DURING YOUR FIRST 30 DAYS YOU WILL:
- Onboard with our Design, Product, Engineering, Analytics and Clinical teams
- Familiarize yourself with our offerings for our various users: patients, physicians, employers, and internal clinical & care teams (staff physicians and care coordinators)
- Meet with as many people as possible to immerse yourself in the various components of a complex, multi-audienced product ecosystem
- Conduct an experience audit of a major component of the current Grand Rounds experience
DURING YOUR FIRST 60 DAYS YOU WILL:
- Understand and gain ownership of a specific product area: internal tools for our Clinical Teams. These are the tools our Staff Physicians, Care Coordinators and Records Specialists use all day, everyday to facilitate world class care and experiences for our patients
- Make recommendations for improvement to the Clinical Team Tools
- Become the point person for the product you own
- Collaboratively advance your work and understanding by engaging with Product and Engineering teams, as well as other designers on the team
DURING YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS YOU WILL:
- Assume ownership of the experience for your product area
- Propose specific design solutions (flows, prototypes, presentations) for your product area
- Work with Product and Engineering to determine design priorities and advocate for design principles in resource allocation
- Develop a perspective on opportunities for new products (fresh eyes!)
- Proficiency in user-centered application design, a love of analytics, deep knowledge of web and mobile application design patterns, and is comfortable writing HTML and CSS.
- Proficient in Photoshop, Sketch, Graffle, and similar tools
- Must be comfortable distilling complex technical problems into simple elegant solutions
- Desire to use data, analytics and qualitative methods to measure design outcomes
- Comfortable prototyping in HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- Bachelor's degree in design-related discipline, or commensurate professional work experience as a designer
