Summary
GitHub is looking to hire you, a Sr. Systems Engineer who wants to help craft our enterprise version of the world’s leading code collaboration service. GitHub Enterprise helps our customers take advantage of some of the best qualities of open source. Your contributions to our state-of-the-art system scalability projects will make or break our goal to improve the lives of developers in companies whose engineering department populations rival some mid-sized metro areas. Responsibilities
* You will build highly scalable and available GitHub Enterprise systems * You will craft the backend pieces of our Enterprise product * You will enable the success of our customers by solving issues on Enterprise instances
Ideal Candidate
* You are a proficient Unix developer * You are an OS architecture enthusiast * You have knowledge of a few dynamic and scripting programming languages (knowledge of bash is preferred because we use it, but not required) * You debug low-level system operations in your sleep * You encourage and practice collaboration * Strong Unix shell programming skills (i.e. POSIX shell, Bash) * Programming skills with a dynamic language (i.e. Ruby, Perl, Python, etc.) * Deep understanding of Unix operating system architecture and functions (i.e. libc) * Strong understanding of Virtual Machine Unix/Linux environments * Experience crafting high-scalable systems * Strong written communication * Experience troubleshooting in customer-facing environments * Familiarity with Git and GitHub * Conscientiousness * Self learner
