When I Work is an employee scheduling and communication app using the web, mobile apps, text messaging, social media, and email. The program provides a powerful tool for employers to communicate with employees and ensure schedules are properly communicated.
Summary
Does owning an infrastructure and driving its evolution excite you? Do the words “automation” and “open source” make your brow perk up? Can you configure a new system in the morning, scan for security and validate at lunch, and have 500 of them live by the end of the day? Do you respond to mentions of “HIPPA” or “SOX” with ‘Challenge accepted?’ Are you outraged by manual repetitive tasks? Does ChatOps interest you? Then this is your job! You'll be responsible for enhancing, securing, and scaling our production servers and the applications that run on them. You'll ensure that our databases are not only performant, but being backed up properly, and secure. You'll work with the development team to automate our deployment processes, as well as monitor performance and uptime. You’ll also be responsible for scaling our infrastructure as our business continues to grow. In short, you will be involved in all aspects of infrastructure, build, deploy, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Be the driving force of improvement of our infrastructure and software through automation, monitoring, performance tuning, and tool creation. - Define and develop system reporting and infrastructure health monitoring. - Create tools and processes to build and deploy our apps to web. Preferred experience with compiling mobile apps as well. - Troubleshoot production infrastructure and load issues and implement solutions. - Develop and maintain our Chef configuration management environment. - Use best practices for deployment processes and support. - Drive overall production systems architecture.
Ideal Candidate
- Been there, done that, experience in a Systems/Security/Ops role interacting with development and QA. - Programming chops (Ruby, Bash, etc…) - Ability to build, monitor, and tune production cloud servers and services. We currently use Linode and AWS. - Understanding of configuration management tools (preferably Chef). - Experience with version control and deployment processes, preferably GitHub. - Experience running mission-critical Linux servers. - Experience understanding and implementing security practices in a regulated environment (HIPPA, PCI, SOX, etc…)
