Summary
As a Systems Administrator, you will build and operate our state-of-the-art software systems production environment. We have 1000+ servers in multiple data centers across the country. You will work closely with the product development team to design and deliver superior production systems that scale to massive traffic and data loads, while performing with ultra low latency.
Responsibilities
* Understand and operate the many high performance software components comprising eBay Advertising’s platform along with their interdependencies * Drive technical design reviews and provide strong architectural input * Be a team player ready for fast-paced growth and tremendous business expansion * Implement instrumentation, fault tolerance, and monitoring across our systems * Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation * Collaborate with with product management and development teams on large projects * Coach and mentor other technical team members
Ideal Candidate
* 3+ years of hands-on experience in systems administration (i.e., expert level UNIX/Linux), networking, storage, and system virtualization with large scale, distributed systems * 2+ years of experience with at least one of the following high level languages; Bash, Python, Ruby, and Perl * Proficient at maintaining and troubleshooting Java applications * Proficient at system performance testing and tuning (OS and Application stack) * Proficient with Tomcat and Apache configurations * Knowledgeable of security concepts (Access Control, Vulnerability Management, Encryption) * Knowledgeable of networking concepts TCP/IP stack, OSI model * Experienced with open-source monitoring solutions such as Nagios and Cacti * Experienced with VMware virtualization * Experienced working with firewalls and load balancers * Experienced at troubleshooting, problem triage, and incident management * Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
