Summary
General Mills is seeking a Social Media Specialist who will act as the primary voice of one of our many brands on a variety of social media platforms and as a bridge between the brand and the consumer. In this role you will grow the social media platforms through frequent, relevant, brand-right social media conversations and content that increase loyalty to and engagement with General Mills brands, with a focus on the brand. And you will help refine marketing strategies by sharing insights and perspectives mined through daily interactions in social media. In addition to campaign-specific executions that are part of an integrated effort, you will also craft the daily content calendar, as well as continuing to shape a meaningful social media strategy that aligns with the brand’s objectives. On our Marketing team, you will be a part of giving our organization a broad-based communication understanding while helping to deliver world-class marketing campaigns on social media platforms. You will work with a collection of experts that few companies can match. And every day, we work together to deliver integrated campaigns that connect with customers at many levels.
Responsibilities
* Social media strategy and content planning * Manage social strategy and develop editorial calendars for always-on and brand campaigns across all social media platforms and owned channels (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) * Partner with integrated marketing team to plan brand’s platform and brand marketing strategies and campaigns that leverage social media * Develop compelling organic and paid content to engage targeted consumer groups * Social media content execution and conversation management * Write and execute day-to-day content and communications for the brand’s social media platforms, using established brand personality and identity * Lead creative content development in conjunction with designers; Work with cross-functional teams to estimate, source and create multimedia content for the brand’s social media platforms * Monitor social media on a daily basis and engage in conversations on behalf of the brand when appropriate, collaborating with internal teams to craft responses when appropriate * Social media reporting * Mine social media conversations for business-relevant consumer and product insights, and share those insights with brand and integrated marketing teams * Create weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on social media activities to show progress and communicate insights that inform marketing strategies and campaigns * Social business development * Identify emerging social channels and influencers and maintain partnerships with existing channels and partners * Collaborate with other community engagement team members to develop and share best practices for social media engagement across the General Mills organization * Help execute customer activations and promotions * Additional duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree * 2-5 years of experience planning and creating social media content and conversations on behalf of a brand or organization * Prefer knowledge of social media publishing platforms and other creative content technologies such as Spredfast, Curalate, Power Editor, Twitter Ads, and Photoshop * Experience with targeting on social * Experience managing creative partners to develop creative content * Experience collaborating with integrated teams and developing integrated marketing strategies * Strong creative writer, with ability to think strategically * Comfortable extracting relevant insights from social media data to communicate results and refine strategies * Strong people skills and able to effectively manage community criticism * Strong collaborator; able to quickly track down answers for community questions * Early adopter of new technologies; Exhibits curiosity and desire to learn * Interested in food, cooking and lifestyle content * Strong organizational skills and detail orientation; Ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
