Summary
The Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting the Vice President of Finance in analyzing the financial performance and status of all contracts as it relates to budgets, billings, modifications, and forecasting, and recommending strategies and/or process improvements where appropriate; he/she is to track the progress of all contracts from award to closeout; assist in the formulation of awarded and proposed contract budgets; update financial systems regarding contract budget modifications; and assure proper indirect rate applications are transacted. The Financial Analyst works closely with internal staff to ensure budgets are accurate and understood, projects are billed accurately, forecasting is done timely and accurately, and that project financial status is updated and communicated appropriately. Works closely with customers to ensure fidelity of budgets, required documentation, and cost compliance.
Responsibilities
* The position is responsible for contract budgets, modifications, forecasting, and variance analysis. * This position will assist with all financial monitoring activity performed by clients. She/he coordinates with the client as needed, regarding scheduling of monitoring activities, providing internal control and policy/procedure information and requested analysis. * The Financial Analyst prepares and analyzes reports as requested, which summarize business activities regarding earnings performance, direct and indirect cost levels, and forecasting financial results. He/she prepares reports required by internal procedures and reviews financial results for accuracy and clarity within the timeframes scheduled. * The Financial Analyst is responsible for maintaining records of budget vs. actual revenue and expenses no a monthly basis. * The Financial Analyst is responsible for all budget modifications with internal staff and external funding agency points of contact. He/she reviews the actuals and comes up with the plan for completion with program staff and facilitates submittal to funding agencies for approval. * The Financial Analyst is responsible for working with staff on budgets for all contracts that are rolling over. He/she reviews previous year actuals and new year requirements to build an operating budget. * The Financial Analyst also assists with proposals and new business operating budgets and customer forms developed during the bid process. * Other related duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Education – Bachelor’s Degree, from an accredited College or University, in Accounting or Finance. * Experience – Three to five years related experience at a company providing products and/or services to government agencies. * Skills – Knowledge of Financial and ERP systems: Deltek GCS Premier/Impromptu knowledge preferred; must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office software. Experience working with cost reimbursement contracts. Knowledge and experience of the government contracting process preferred. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and program performance analysis. Superior business acumen and technical knowledge within area of responsibility. Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence and speak clearly. Strong process orientation: Detail oriented, logical and methodological approach to problem solving. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, professional journals, technical procedures and deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations. The responsibilities described above require the incumbent to exercise discretion and independent judgment in executing the described functions/tasks. * Physical Demands – The environment for this position is an open office that is clean and comfortable. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he/she is free to move about at will. In the course of performing this position the incumbent spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 20 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching. This position may be required to operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, general office equipment including copy and fax machines, calculator, personal computer and related printers. He/she must be able to sit for prolonged periods and work non-traditional hours when needed. The incumbent in this position must be able to: read and interpret documents or instruments, perform highly detailed work, assist or guide problem solving, perform complicated mathematical functions, conduct meetings and presentations, prepare written communication, perform analytical reasoning, withstand stress, handle multiple, concurrent tasks and constant interruptions. * Other – Must meet state criminal background check requirements. * Travel - Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.
