Summary
Support the deployment of new Windows..nix based computer systems as a Tier 2 support engineer. Tasks include, but are not limited to, supporting installation teams deployed overseas through remote troubleshooting, creation and revision of detailed installation instructions for installers support integration of hardware for deployment, remote configuration and installation of new system to include restoring client data, applications, mappings, mailboxes, etc. and ensuring network connectivity and functionality. Installs, analyzes, evaluates, and supports network communications including LAN/WAN systems. Ensure the integration of components, systems, and network solutions that meet global IT requirements.
Responsibilities
* Work with the Program Leadership Team and the Government Client to coordinate, schedule and assist in the refresh of Windows based computer systems. This will involve direct customer interaction. * Provide SME-level technical support to installation teams and Government Clients based overseas. * Provide excellent customer service to the government clients. * Complete and submit all reporting requirements in a timely manner. * Lead and supervise small teams of network/systems engineers in the deployment of new Windows based computer systems to replace existing systems. * Contribute to the development of configuration and installation procedures for deployment of converged systems and network platforms. * Troubleshoot/resolve/document any issues/problems during the deployment, update and maintain a knowledge base, and provide excellent customer service to clients at all levels within the organization during the entire process. * Develop and maintain installation documentation and procedures for the installation teams. * Leads and monitors, maintains, designs, installs, and supports Lab network hardware and software infrastructure following processes and procedures. * Assists Network Design and Installation teams with design reviews. * Provides guidance to mid and entry level technicians, if needed.
Ideal Candidate
**Knowledge & Skills** * Must have experience in an engineering, Tier 2 support role with responsibilities in hardware installations, troubleshooting and repair, with at least 2-3 years in an IT leadership role. * Excellent customer service and communication skills are required. * Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. * Must be able to work independently or as part of a small team. * Must be able to work in a time-sensitive environment installing mission-critical systems. * Must be able to develop, maintain, and follow defined processes and document any issues/problems clearly. * Past experience in mid to large scale server hardware refreshes/deployments in a domestic and/or overseas environment a plus * Advanced level knowledge/experience in Windows Server 2008/2012, Active Directory, VMWare ESXi v5 or later, NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP, Microsoft Exchange 2010/2013, Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop, Cisco Catalyst and Nexus Switches, Cisco UCS Director * Microsoft MCSE, VMWare, NetApp, or Cisco certifications a major plus **Experience & Education** * Qualifications: 7 or more years’ experience in IT, network engineering, or systems engineering. * Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline. * 2 years’ experience in related field can be substituted for each year of the 4 years of college. * Top Secret Security Clearance required. **Physical Requirements/Working Environment** * Ability to bend and lift equipment up to 50 pounds, and engage in labor related duties of connecting computer and networking equipment **Travel** * Possibility of OCONUS travel to support pilot deployments * Familiar with international travel requirements such as Visa, medical, and passport
