Responsibilities
The Perspectives Designer will work collaboratively on a variety of initiatives to help tell visually inspiring stories about innovation. Job description The Perspective Designer (PD) will work within a small Perspectives Team. The role of the Perspectives Team within Doblin is to lead the development and dramatization of Doblin’s point of view on innovation topics that are relevant to Doblin’s clients (typically executives responsible for innovation in large organizations). At times, the PD will also work on other internally oriented or client-facing initiatives with a broader set of Doblin colleagues. The other members of the Perspectives Team will be a Perspectives Advisor and a Perspectives Associate. The Perspectives Advisor will manage the PD and be responsible for overall direction of perspective development for Doblin. The Perspectives Associate will be a collaborator who will focus on research and insight generation to inform story development. Examples of specific activities and deliverables include: * Development of slides for a conference speaking event that tell a story about an interesting innovation * Creation of visual models or diagrams to illustrate relevant aspects of innovation perspectives for inclusion in an article or whitepaper * Creation of the graphics to be animated for a short video on Doblin’s website * Creation of visual materials or artifacts (including layout, icons, callout boxes, etc.) for a report on industry or consumer trends * Development of slides or other visuals to illustrate innovation stories in a client proposal, and ownership of the proposal’s overall ‘look and feel’ to ensure it conveys ideas effectively and showcase Doblin’s visual design capabilities * Production of artifacts and collateral to support marketing efforts and client experiences, which might include producing materials and helping to set up Doblin’s presence at a conference, or producing a booklets, posters and other branded artifacts to support the execution of a great client workshop. The PD will also serve as a team member and contributor to Doblin’s overall design function, and is expected to take on responsibilities for codifying best practices and helping to evolve and manage brand standards and various design assets. The PD role is primarily internal (non-client facing). Travel requirements are not expected to be significant, though intermittent (e.g. 1-2 days a month) travel may be required for team collaboration or conference attendance.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a collaborative team player and self-starter, who can both contribute to strategic direction of initiatives and the evolution of Doblin’s design practice overall, while taking direct ownership of the communication design and production of both large and small design tasks. Specific qualifications include * An undergraduate degree in graphic or communications design * Expert level experience in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Powerpoint; knowledge of video and animation software, and doing illustrations using a tablet are a plus * Minimum 5 years of professional design experience; knowledge of the strategic issues relevant to large corporate organizations and familiarity with a senior executive audience are a strong plus * Ability to contribute intellectually to the development of compelling stories that are meaningful to executive audiences * Ability to be autonomously creative in developing design directions and visual narrative constructs for research insights and stories * Experience in a variety of narrative mediums (e.g. slides, posters, video, reports), and expertise to develop appropriate mediums for the audience * Exceptional attention to detail * Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work quickly and in a time constrained environment * A passion for and working knowledge of the innovation space
