Summary
Within the office of the Chief Health Information Officer, the Director of Research Computing will lead the strategy and execution of Research Computing teams and functions at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in support of Research and related groups, overseeing a diverse support staff, managing budgets, prioritizing work, and leading strategic initiatives. The role requires a deep understanding of advanced computing concepts, technical solutions, and their applications in biomedical research, as well as a high level of communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
Responsibilities
* Direct and manage departmental strategic plans, policies, projects, and schedules for the support of workstation, server, storage, network, and workflow environments to meet annual goals and objectives. * Develop scientific and technical objectives in the development and execution of the overall departmental strategy to ensure responsive capabilities in support of the research community’s growth and evolution. * Evaluate overall operations of Research Computing functions and oversee implementation of enhancements. * Develop and establish operating policies, communication channels, and approaches to support a broad range of research activities. * Advise senior management on strategic systems development and integrations in support of organizational goals by serving on organizational planning and policy making committees. * Prepare annual goals and budgets to facilitate an orderly plan of project execution. * Interact with senior management and all levels of research faculty and staff on current and future initiatives to make informed projections regarding technical impact and the pursuit of innovative solutions. * Oversee support, technical, and development leads, and provide opportunity- and risk- based prioritization of objectives for each team. * Ensure all employees are treated with dignity and respect, have appropriate performance feedback and career development conversations and support, and have the tools they need to do their jobs.
